Default Bigger has right of way?

WRONG !
Seems like just last week a thread was talking about seniors needing to retake driver's test. Why? They didn't learn the rules the first time.

No matter what size the vehicle, they are entitled to the entire lane.
That means that if golf cart wants to pass a bicycle, they must make a safe pass (nothing coming in the opposite direction), not exceed the speed limit, and completely leave the lane - passing on left only. FLORIDA LAW !

Also Florida law, any vehicle cannot come within 3 feet of a bicycle or pedestrian.

That means if you cannot provide a pedestrian (hopefully facing traffic, but with no where else to go), you must wait until you can provide the 3-feet (not run them off the road).

Rules, common sense, and courtesy of others (especially their safety), would really make TV a better place. Same thing for on the roads.
Yes, bicycles are entitled to an entire lane.
If I'm riding towards the left side of a lane, it means it is unsafe to pass.

If there is a bike in lanes on both sides. Sorry, you cannot pass (especially between them). Do you want to kill someone? STATE LAW. State penalties.

Yes, Florida Law applies to what you call golf cart paths.

Please cite the Florida statutes that say:
- You must completely leave the lane to pass a bicycle
- You must not pass on the right
- You cannot come within 3 feet of a pedestrian
- Anything at all about bicycles in both lanes
- Anything at all about the Florida statutes above (if any) applying off the public roadways (golf cart paths)

It is very, very easy to write, "IT'S THE LAW!" It is considerably harder to find statutes that do not exist.

316.130(15) uses the term "due care" not "3 feet." Due care might be 10 feet depending on the circumstances. Due care might be accomplished with two feet in a tight parking lot. "Due care" is not specifically "three feet."

Common sense right of way is as follows: If it's bigger than you IT has the right away. Pretty simple!

Walkers should give way to bikers, golf cars, small cars on the multi models paths.
Bikers should give way to golf cars and small cars on multi model paths.
Golf cars should give way to small cars on multi model paths.

Courtesy Kills! So it follows the bigger you are the less courtesy you need to allow. Cars should not stop to let bikers, golf cars, small cars thru the passage way at gates. Cars have the right of way(Big Theory) and besides, courtesy waves them thru as the gate on the other side is opening and the other car, unaware, comes close to hitting them.( big potential accident)

If you follow these simple rules you will never be Jebbed.
In the Navy the rule is: “The Law of Gross Tonnage Prevails”. Been that way for hundreds of years.

Ex-Navy here. My tonnage is pretty gross, and is exceeding the hull design specs. Time to offload more than I onload.

Walkers should not try to get out of the way bikers should tell walkers which side they are passing on so walkers know to not move there.

This is taught in classes.

And then the submarine was invented and all levels of tonnage simply became targets.

I always thought the least valuable vehicle has the right of way.
When the drivers of a Pinto and a Ferrari have to decide which one prevents the accident, it does not matter to the Ferrari driver that he has the right of way ..he is yielding it to the Pinto.

Well said....I'm not even a resident, yet, and I already KNOW that everyone else is vastly more important than am I, AND that they are universally out to kill me, on the roadways.....

That assumes (there is that word again) that the Farrari driver can see past his ego.

Famous quote from the movie.........Assumption is the mother of all f....ups.

In today's world, never assume anything about another individual. Knowledge of same laws or regulations or anything is varied.

Here lies marathon man...he was right and he was wronged!

I taught Motorcycle safety couse for over 10 years.
If you want to prevent an accident you must always remember that "Mass times velocity equals right of way."
