So I followed the link. And found that it's not a singular season, it's a bunch of different date windows for different birds. For some, the season has been over for more than a month already. For others, the season doesn't end til February.

That's great information, but it doesn't answer the question, does it? I don't know which birds people hunt near the Villages. I don't know which birds are typically found there. If Canadian geese don't migrate through the Villages during the season, but typically fly to some other part of Florida, then THEIR hunting season doesn't matter at all, does it?

So I'll ask again in a different way, and maybe someone will be kind enough to answer instead of challenging my google fu.

How long does the hunting season typically last within earshot of the Villages, in particular? And, where is that earshot located?

Hunting season doesn't end in Florida. You can hunt 365 days a year.

It isn't IN TV but it is in the rural areas surrounding The Villages. Rural may be new to you.

Er, what? I don't even live in Florida yet. As posted previously, several times, we'll probably end up living in the Villages next year.

I can't handle the sound of guns, or firecrackers, or even continual backfires on badly-tuned car engines. The sudden explosive sounds cause my blood pressure to spike, which is unhealthy. I want to avoid even considering homes in areas that are most prone to the sound of gunfire.

So if The Cabanas of East Oshkosh are closest to the hunting grounds, I will know not to look at homes there. Nothing nefarious about that, I assure you. But thanks (not at all) for the vote of confidence.

So that article was about hunting from boats on Lake Deaton. That's just north of 44, between Morse and Buena Vista, the general vicinity of Layton, Dunedin, Nanatee pools and neighborhoods.

Since we are considering *mostly* north of 466A (and my preference would be as close to 466 as possible), are the areas I'm looking at likely, or not likely, to experience close-range sounds of hunting season?

During the summer we have some very loud thunderstorms that will rattle your windows and make those gunshots sound like popcorn cooking.

There are car nuts and gear heads, that like to tinker with ignitions in cars, to them a car is not transposition, a car is a toy. Have seen them around and they are driving around in a car that is is need of service, not tinkering, but service and there is very big difference.

Gunfire noise here really isn’t an issue. You can hear them, but usually from a distance. The pop is more of a muffled sound than a down the street bang. The loud pops are usually from a golf cart backfiring. Sirens are a bigger issue — you can hear them constantly if you live near a major thoroughfare.

Thank you for informing me about the hunting... I didn't even think about that and yet I spent most of my life in Montana so I should have known... LOL. I did recognize the noise was gunfire, I just didn't think about bird hunting. Thank you for the replies.

A very correct and informative post as usual. The sirens greatly increase during high season.

This is another moment that I am surprised about the geographic differences in our great country. I thought everyone, everywhere, knew about hunting.
