We are very close to 466 and I have never heard gunshots. Could be they are muffled by the emergency vehicle sirens or the train whistles?

This is another moment that I am surprised about the geographic differences in our great country. I thought everyone, everywhere, knew about hunting.

There wasn't a lot of hunting going on in Brooklyn. On second thought, maybe there was but it wasn't for rabbits, ducks or birds.

We recently attended a memorial service at one of the rec centers. The VFW was an honor guard and stepped outside the rec center to do the gun salute. I’m certain nearby neighbors were startled.

I've heard Charleston, S.C. is a very nice area. Never lived there. The only place I spent any time in S.C. was a place called Parris Island. Lots of there! That was more than 50 years ago. Wow! Where does time go?

Just a random thought, but wondering if people that are deeply bothered by the sound of bangs that are not being generated by mother nature (thunder), can handle the sound of nail guns. In new areas nail guns are going off just about all day long, and in older established areas, roofs are being replace all the time. It is a rare day when we sit out on our birdcage and do not hear the sound of nail guns. Just wondering?

That would probably be annoying, if it were next door or 2 houses away. But if that were the case, it'd only last a day or three and that's it for another 10 years (assuming roofs in TV last 10 years, which they are guaranteed to last here in CT).

Hunting SEASON is a whole season of noise. And up here in my neighborhood, the "4th of July fireworks season" lasts two months.

A Harley Davidson riding up your street, is only heard once that day. But if you have the Harley dealership across the street, you'll hear that noise many times that day, and every day the dealership is open.

A single occasional noise here and there is not a big deal. Nor should it be - noise happens. An entire season of noise at the crack of dawn because that's when hunters can shoot down the most ducks (or whatever they're shooting down) is not the same thing. In addition, the sound of gunfire, in particular, and explosives (firecrackers) is especially jarring to me.

We were behind a Golf Cart that backfired and you would swear that it was gunfire. It even gave that percussion feeling to my chest.

None of those noises bother us too much as long as we have an idea of where they are coming from. It was common where we lived before.

When a Dump Truck finishes dumping its load the driver pulls up a couple of feet and claps the tailgate to empty the bed of any material clinging to the sides. That

most certainly is an additional way this noise could be produced.
