I thought same thing till I went to Tampa. Holy moly 60 plus deep just get through stop light with 5 lanes. IMO only congested during bird season around here except for few through fares.

Life would be so much easier if the slow people on the roads and on the golf cart paths would just pull over or drive in the right lane then you wouldn’t have all of this weaving in and out.
Also, when you come to a roundabout, if nobody is coming on your left side, there is no need to slow down to go thru the roundabout. Most roundabouts you can see for a block if somebody is in the roundabout on your left. I see a lot of people almost come to a stop when entering the roundabout with no cars in sight, this is not the way to drive. You yield if somebody is in the roundabout or you drive thru it at the speed limit if no cars in sight.
I almost got hit by 2 different T&D Pool workers at 2 different roundabouts. I called the company to tell them and what the drivers looked like.
Sounds like you feel entitled to drive fast all the time.
The near accidents were probably your fault.

Florida law says you cannot pass if you have to exceed the speed limit, and only when clear, completely clear.
Blow it.

I recently completed the Florida Mature Driving Course to try to reduce the price of my car insurance. It went up significantly after moving here.

Default Speed limits and

If you are concerned with speeders, and tailgaters, and people entering the traffic circles dangerously,
Then stop speeding, and drive more cautiously.

Every year when we get a lot of new people here. We're just showing them that it is still OK to drive like a moron AH as they did back in suburban Dystopia.

Be the change you want to see in the world.

Florida law certainly says you cannot exceed the speed limit. Florida may say you cannot exceed the speed limit to complete a pass (MD law was different, haven't looked in a while). But Florida law is very clear that if a car is approaching from behind you, you MUST move out of the left lane if safe to do so. It also says (316.083(5)) that you MUST NOT increase your speed to prevent someone from passing you.

Basically, it isn't your job to worry about the person going faster than you are, your responsibility is to get out of the left lane!

If you have $8100 damage to your going from a complete stop to hitting a golf cart, you must have been doing a 0 to 60 mph in as fast as your car can go.

FL law: No one has the right-of-way if there is the potential of causing an accident.

Although.... One might say that you *were* ticketed but with a Warning rather than a monetary fine.

Plus... You cut off 318.18(3)(c) which imposes a $50 fine for exceeding the speed limit by up to 5mph in a school zone and 318.18(d) which imposes a $100 fine for exceeding the speed limit in a school zone. It's not clear to me what the differences between (c) and (d) are but to the point of this post, there are non-zero fines for both.

So again, ticketed is ticketed whether there is a fine or not and in some cases there is a fine even for going less than 5mph over the speed limit.

Big difference between receiving a warning and a ticket. Especially concerning auto insurance.

Here you go, for your entire reading pleasure Just a moment...

What was it about my reply that gave you the impression I had not read the statute?

I didn’t read all of the comments, but this happens all the time … just chill leave more space in front and let them cut … so what if they get the 10 seconds faster
I do 280 miles a day up and down the thruway and all over the Villages and if you just take your time don’t let anyone get under you skin, it will be alright…. Just slow down …. Speed limits are there for a reason …. Respect them and all you fellow humans
