How many read that lie and believed that 6 were equal partners in the $7M awarded by the courts ? I will bet a lot actually believed that and that is the way Tutt and the Daily Sun wanted you to believe it. Well the truth the Courts awarded $7M to the Attorneys and ZERO to the 6 who devoted their time and personal funds so the Historical Section could have a good Paradise Rec Center and the assurance the Developer would have to maintain additional Villages property by ordering $40M penalty. The attorney's split $6.7M among themselves and provided $300K to the 6 ($50K per) in order to repay some of the monies they personally invested to help the Historical District, et al and to help pay for some of their time spent on the problem(s). That was at the discretion of the Attorney's with no expectation by the 6!
NOW DOES THAT SOUND LIKE THE 6 WERE PART OF A $7m SPLIT LIKE THE DAILY SUN AND TUTT WOULD HAVE YOU BELIEVE. IT IS OUTRAGES AND DISHONEST TO USE ANY METHOD POSSIBLE NOT EVEN SHORT OF A LIE TO TRY TO DESTROY THE POA. IT IS DISGUSTING. TO ADD TO THIS THEY WENT ON TO SAY THE POA WAS AFTER MONEY IN THE LATEST LAWSUIT. TAKE THE TIME TO READ IT AND SEE ANYWHERE THE POA WAS TO BE PAID ANYTHING.. JUST PLAIN LIES.

Here is what the Orlando Sentinel said about it in March of 2007.
You will see who was paid what.
Villages developer to pay $40 million for recreation upgrades to settle a lawsuit - tribunedigital-orlandosentinel

As far as I can perceive the developer didn't have his hands in any cookie jar. Everything was well maintained as far as I could see. And continues to be.

It could be that the amenities are now well maintained because of the success of the lawsuit. The mold cited in the article doesn't sound like particularly good maintenance to me.

Just accept that it is biased. They run a column on climate change and then publish an AP article two pages later that scientifically refutes their position. Their sports department writes with a big ten bias and they think they live in Ohio or Michigan. Gotta love it Can't beat the price for the coupons and TV happenings however so get your news from real sources.

Supporters of the POA keep rewriting history to fit their current narrative. The settlement included a payment to the named defendants in the suit. There was no “good will of the attorneys” to share some of the award. I have copied the section of the lawsuit settlement notice detailing the payments. This information was obtained from the POA’s own website!

“Attorney’s Fees and Incentive Award – VLS shall also pay to the plaintiff class $6,700,000 for attorney’s fees, $300,000 for incentive awards to the plaintiff’s Class Representatives, and $6,000 to Anderson & Anderson, P.A. for cost reimbursement.” (emphasis added)

Now that we have the correct facts about payment of the original lawsuit, let’s talk about the most recent lawsuit. Here is the disservice the POA has done to the residents of The Villages and the POA members.

1. As stated in the article in the DS, The Villages could not refinance the bonds while the class action lawsuit was pending. This has now required The Villages to pay a higher interest rate on the bonds.
2. The Villages is eating over $300,000 in legal fees expended to fight the latest lawsuit. We, the residents, are not getting this back.
3. The POA funded the current lawsuit. This means the dues of the members paid $40,000 to The Villages as part of the settlement. What we have not seen, and no one associated with the POA will answer is how much more they paid in legal fees to their attorneys.

If I was a POA member, and I am not, I would be demanding to know a full accounting of how much this lawsuit cost. This is what you want your POA dues going towards?

Default Here We Go Again

This forum will never have an objective conversation about The villages, the Daily sun, the POA or the VHA or anything remotely connected to the aforementioned because its the Hatfield and McCoy mentality again

The rationale is simply a marketing concept. If TVLSI marketing convinced you as a customer that buying into this community was buying value then you will in turn market TVLSI brand and remain a loyal consumer. If marketing did not and somewhere along the way you as a resident felt that you received less then you expected then you won't market the TVLSI brand. When two people operate on different philosophical levels they will just never agree.

So here we are again with "Is so"Ïs not" Ïs so""Is not"..............

Personal Best Regards

And there are folks that when presented with the facts will insist ad nauseum, that two plus two equals three.

Exclamation

1. As shown in prior notes: The 6 who put up their own money in order to win the $40M for the residents and make the Developer live up to his promises only received $50K per and anything else is a lie. Including the statement by Tutt and printed in the Daily Sun. The $6.7M went to the Attorneys. Of course there was no mention of their putting up some of their own money to help the residents in the historical district and portions of the $50K were paybacks for their personal investments.
2. The latest suit would not have provided any money to the ones who backed it to help the residents. Anything else said was a lie.
It's good to remember: The truth only hurts for awhile but a lie lasts forever.

BOY, you can say that again. Also they never heard of college baseball even though 3 teams in this state, Miami, Fla. State, and Florida are always ranked near the top. I have to go to internet to get baseball scores.

As far as teams in this state, they favor The Univerity of Florida and ignore Florida State and the University of Miami. I contacted someone with the paper and asked why and they said "because Florida the "local team". Really? They have not exactly been outstanding the last few years, but more importantly, there are fans here from all over the country. Feature the winners, but also report on those who are struggling. What about the PAC 12? The Big 12? The ACC? The AAC? The FCS teams? Villagers are from all over and teams should all be covered. Whew, I feel better now.
