One observation that nobody has mentioned was the picture of Mark Morse at his "evening with the developer" holding up the next day's newspaper. Hard to print current "hard news" a half day early (before it happens??).

My neighbor gets 2 papers a day. One is The Sun the other Orlando Sentinal. Also at the mail station there is a news stand with different papers. As for the Sun, it's local,it's cheap and has the circulars. Besides that there's plenty of news on the TV, Internet and TOTV reports it all. If people don't like the Sun stop reading it PERIOD. It's not the Morse's paper anymore it was sold.

We get the Orlando Sentinel and the Daily Sun. Helps to balance the national news. I do enjoy the "happy" paper for what it is. Start the day feeling good.

The Daily Sun is what it is, and there is nothing wrong with that. It has a niche and serves it well. It does seem to me, however, that this community is ripe for a daily newspaper that is focused on international, state, and local news of significance. A community with 100K population, and no real news journal is an invitation for some enterprising someone to fill this niche too. Does Leesburg have a paper? You'd think Ocala or even Orlando would have home delivery here. I think I smell an opportunity for someone with expertise in this business.

I find the Daily Sun a refreshing newspaper to read. I think there are lots of "light" articles as well as local interest articles that make the newspaper less depressing than most newspapers. Everyone knows there are bad things going on everyday in the world, who has to be constantly inundated with it.

I wonder how many felt hometown newspapers from where they left were exceptional? We lived in southern CA for years and our home town newspaper was only one of two that we received daily....along with an online subscription to the L. A. Times that I had. Newspapers are what they are. Personally I don't think they can ever be what we imagine they should be or what they were prior to instant information received on TV, computers....but they are a tradition and one that provides comfort.....we read the paper at a certain time each day, in a certain manner, sometimes in a certain place.

If you want to see a real hometown paper check out the Picayune Item. It makes me appreciate what I have here.

This previous sentence could be construed as personal, I suppose, but my post was in reply to an unsolicited piece of sarcasm for some unknown reason. Thus to you and ONTRACK who jumped to agree, I will just say that if I had the need to be personally critical of negative posting, you have surely supply the bait. |

Pooh - couldn't start my day without a cup of coffee and my newspaper sitting in my favorite spot on the sofa! Like you said - comfort and tradition. I don't look to the paper to give me national news - am fed that all day long - I look for regional and local and appreciate the lightheartedness of The Sun.

Personally I enjoy and look forward to " The Sun " every morning . It serves its purpose as a general community paper . Delivered to your door each morning for about $1 per week I would not expect the NY Times or the Wall Street Journal .
" Hats off " to the staff at the Sun and thank you . |

Like the obviously many other Villages readers, I love our Daily Sun. DAILY SUN not Daily Doom and Gloom. Just like the folks that complain about the A&E show Duck Dynasty talking about God, the Bible, guns and shooting ducks. It's food people...where do you think Publix gets it? There's plenty of bad news out there. I watched the coverage of the Moore OK (where I have many friends and family) tornado on TV and on line. Why do you need the front page of your paper giving you one pic of it. I simply ask...if you dont like it then dont read it. Subscribe to your local paper from "home". This is home to us and we like our Daily Sun just the way it is!
