A number of people seem to embrace the concept that we are living in the past ... technology is an anathema and they want to keep it that way. Fear? I have no idea.

I’m ok with a implant chip — no phone, pencil etc.

Just a matter of time before they start using that chip in your arm that will be mandatory like your pet

Seriously, have you seen their website? It makes TV look like a place to come when your 90. They need to get on the ball. All the DelWeb communities have older active looking people. It really does not represent TV well.

You can check in for a flight online, but you still need to go through security and show an ID.

IDs and guest passes on phones can be duplicated so I guess you’re OK with non-Village people and non Village guest coming in using our facilities whatever they want even when they don’t pay for it. Would you then complain about overcrowding and where did all these people come from.

They do not accept a picture of your ID on your phone as being valid. I’ve tried this on the pickle ball courts and have been
Told by the rec center employees that I have to present the actual ID card.

One thing the Villages has an abundance of and will never run out of is sarcastic people. Why are so many of retired and wealthy residents so grumpy?

It took the airlines years to get their apps to be useable....still not totally there. To support that , how much more are you willing to pay in fees? The $8 per month Villages-net charges is reasonable . Expert about the same if they go app route. As more tech savvy population moves in I expect it will happen.

Why not a windshield scanner to open gates like we use on turnpike.

Gee, maybe that's why we came here - to retire.

Paper and pencil will be around forever. Remember when we were going to be a paperless society? Yeah that did not work. Why because computers crash. Etc. I don't even like getting my bills paperless. Call me behind the times and I am fine with that. Don't get me wrong I like having a cell phone. Great when I need direction. Or calling for help when my car breaks down. Lots of good reason to have one but then I draw the line. I don't want to rely on my phone.
ditto.
and don't even get me started on lunch with cell phone users

TECHNOLOGY ????
It's only good for certain applications. For something as simple as an ID, I would prefer an ID card.
Suppose there is a glitch in the system, and you are trying to enter the rec center for your championship game, or even your club dinner, and the system doesn't recognize your App. "Whutcha gonna do"?
Technology is good only when it works.
A physical ID card works all the time.

Beyond that discussed, I am hoping that Citizens First Bank would get the program to be able to transfer bank to bank. I have a bank account up North and I can transfer funds to Citizens First, but cannot do the same transfer to bank in NYS from Citizens. That would be the main reason why I have to consider who to bank with as a primary.
