We moved to the villages about eight years ago. I have no idea how they got our address.
I was turned over for collection for a claimed unpaid water bill. Typical of many companies, rather than investigate they turn you in for collection and you get stuck doing their job. The water company was sold. Due to their error or previous error
they had my bill as un-paid. Perhaps, used to dealing with dead beats. I gave them my check number date etc. They went away for a year or two and then started the same thing again. They were shocked when I demanded a letter stating what the issue was and that if I was KIND ENOUGH to send them a copy of the cancelled check they would resolve the matter. I did that. As expected a year latter they started again. I told them to research their letter dated, signed by.........
Paper pencil, pen still is useful. Imagine doing this as they expect-on line banking.
My credit is excellent. We all have disputes. I always insist on a signed letter of apology
and I have a pile of them. Computers do not solve all problems. For many things they change things, invent new problems and or make old problems more difficult to resolve.

Mark Twain said something like-We don't make any progress because we lose what was.
So TRUE TRUE TRUE.... just look at the multitude of problems "social media" has fueled; from depression, to divorce, to suicide. We "invent" new medicines, see them in ads on TV all the time, then they invent new "diseases" and conditions FOR the medicines, GO ask you doctor, call them TODAY and ask about _______ ! I for one came from a family that did NOT call our doctor and tell them what medicine to order for our family. Now it's the same with auto deposit by snapping a picture of a check, all so safe, never any problems, everything virtual.... humm, I guess I am turning into my grandmother ! Always thinking the newest is not necessarily the best !

Having been a resident for some time now, I kind of think it would NOT be "The Villages" (the entity/development business) that would be paying for this "advancement".... hummm, let's see, who else could/would be paying ?

Maybe fear, maybe they've just been through the never ending hassle of not having proof other than "virtual proof", or maybe just the never ending news of the newest government, medical records, financial, hacking. In this case, "fear" could be a good "friend"....

I think the most recent "update" from the Villages mentions that they are working on an ID for cell phones and also tee times on your cell phone.

A whole other subject. Regular debate things are not as good as they used to be. I had a hobby of reading old books, published pre WWI. Many of the problems we think we have invented they too dealt with. The Wright brothers. First powered flight 1903. In there letters, though they didn't use the term, they complained about fake news. Reporters repeating mistake information from others. People writing about things. Arguing about things who do not know what they are talking about.

As far as your doctor. I remember days of old when the doctor came to your home. He possibly but rarely she had a chance to see how clean the place was, who your parents were etc. Today, a doctor has about 15 minutes to spend with a patient. Does he/she really know you or did they look at your chart? You can actually research when you will die and what will kill you. I do not want to know.

Grandmother? My great grandmother was well over 100 when she passed. There is nothing like being 9-10 and hearing a dirty joke from someone over 100. Change?
She as a kid came to the US on a sailing ship as steerage-the cheap seats. By the time she passed men were walking on the moon. For us. When I started working a computer with about the same power as you cell phone required it's own air conditioned
room.
On the other side of my family my grandmother was a great cook. You can buy books on the Mediterranean diet. Grandma said if it looks good on the plate it is good for you.
Good on the plate? Defined by grandma colorful.

For us. Who knows. Teasing Perhaps, after we pass-no one gets out alive-they will say imagine they thought bacon and salami were bad for you. What really killed them was cell phones and the stress from them.

Sadly, not everyone is tech savvy.... I am thinking that is part of the reason.
That’s why they make jitterbug, flip phones and consumer cellular😞

I think the point was we have some very well educated folks here that don’t care/or want the latest technology. They just want to gel in retirement.

A big difference between checking in at the airport and sporting events is their apps don't attach a photo. At airport you still have to show photo ID. If you don't have a photo included in the app and have a TV staff member check the photo on the phone, you will have people sharing apps. That could lead to a myriad of other problems.

If "they" opt for digital the residents will have to pay. This is responsibly of the District Government not the developer. Do you still want to go digital?.

Default We are retired and have time on our hands

Why do we need to become DIGITAL.... Most are over 55 many over 65 and we did not live by digital means. so why now. There are many reasons listed here why we should NOT join the 21st century.. many would say.... Why should I buy a $500+ phone just to sign up for an activity... leave us be. If you want a fast digital world go live somewhere else.
