Default Discovery Cove, Orlando

I'm wondering if anyone can offer any comments on Discovery Cove. My Christmas guests would like to try it. Specifically the $289 PP package that offers swimming with the dolphins. Seems expensive ... but then it's not something you do every day.

I'd appreciate any feedback from people who have visited Discovery Cove (or suggestions on other places that allow swimming with dolphins).

Thanks.

My wife and I did the dolphins at Discovery Cove shortly after they first opened, the price was, I think, $129.
We had never been swimming with the dolphins, and it was well worth the price. That price also included all day at the park, including a delicious lunch, and 7 consectutive days at Sea World. We figured it was a "once in a lifetime" adventure, and have never regretted it.
Since then, we have gone on dolphin swims in Jamaica and Mexico while on cruise vacations. They are beautiful animals, and it is a privilege when they let you in their world.

Bare....if you decide to go, please post pictures (if possible) and let us know how it is....this is something we have decided to do this year (at some point) and would love to hear another review!!!

I have had several friends do this and say it was the most wonderful experience in the world. Some have described it as very spiritual and almost life changing!!

Thanks for the comments Kayaker. I'll relay them to my visitors. I've always wanted to swim with dolphins .. I guess it is something most people would enjoy. However the price has increased from $129 to $289 which makes it an expensive outing.

Cass, if we go, I won't be posting pictures, I don't even have a camera, I'm from the dark ages. But if we decide to swim with the dolphins I'll definitely post comments.

If you are a FL resident, the ticket cost is $199 ($99 for a non-dolphin swim). For non-residents, if you purchase your tickets online at DiscoveryCove.com and use your American Express card, you will receive a $50 gift check from American Express. AAA may offer a discount, if you are a member.

You are not allowed to take your camera with you on a dolphin swim(the dolphins enjoy stealing shiny objects). However the park employees will take PLENTY of pictures, and they will gladly sell you as many as you like!

Kayaker you are a wealth of info...thank you!!

Bare....your comments are always very expressive and create a good story....I look forward to reading all about your adventures when/if you go!! That will be good enough for me!!

This may be a great Birthday present for the March/April b-days in the family.

PS...anyone have any idea when the BEST season is for doing this? Water temp etc??

Kayaker, thanks so much for the helpful info! That is a huge $ savings, I'll check it out ASAP.

I assume that any warm day is a good day to swim with the dolphins. I heard that the dolphin enclosure is heated to 78 degrees, and they will provide wet suits for people like me.
