got Mom's gutter.
Today my friend visited with a resident in our neighborhood who has had gutters damaged twice by some type of canine creature. Here are two pictures of guttering that was flattened and chewed. There were also bunny remains, I won't post that picture. Mom's guttering was found in a yard across the street from her house and the person who found it said it was pretty flattened, but it was disposed of before he realized what was going on. Guttering scattered around homes near Mom's didn't show teeth holes, but the pieces weren't very large and if a bunny was inside, he'd have been out rather quickly not giving the beast time to really bite into the aluminum. Animal control has been brought in on this and hopefully there won't be any more damage and the critter will return to the wild and live its life . Please, remember not to feed the outdoor creatures, they can find their own food. Don't leave pet food out, not sure that a cage is even a secure enough place to leave dog or cat food. Here's the pictures..... ![]() ![]() Last edited by pooh; 10-20-2011 at 11:23 AM. |

When I lived in NJ, an aluminum trash can that was near the pool to hold hoses, etc. was attacked one night by a raccoon who tore it to pieces like that gutter. If we had not seen it (we were attracted by the NOISE), we would not have believed that a raccoon could do that type of damage.

I think Blueash, who also reported his gutter missing lives in Sabal Chase. I wish he would report in on this thread.
I wonder if the raccoon or whatever was trying to get the anoles that live inside...but Pooh, did you mention a bunny? I had been scared of snakes and alligators but now some critter that bites down spouts has me shaking in my sandals. A guttersnipe....? When we were teens in Columbus, Ohio some of the kids went snipe hunting but not me. ![]()

Wow, Pooh! That's just creepy!
Gracie, as you may know, I grew up in Cincinnati. My Dad always warned me about boys who wanted to go "snipe hunting"! I thought that was a local thing but then I also believed that the cats he told me about at bedtime, Pete and Repete, were real, too! Anyway, Pooh that's a lot of damage for a racoon. I think it's the work of this creature: Central Florida is home, of course, to the Walt Disney World resort and numerous other tourist attractions. But Florida is also home to the legend of the Skunk Ape, which is the Sunshine State’s version of Bigfoot. The hairy creature that walks upright around the Florida woods and swamps is called the Skunk Ape because of its notoriously bad odor. Folks who have reported seeing it describe the creature’s smell as a combination of a skunk, rotten eggs and cow manure. People in Florida have reported seeing or hearing the Skunk Ape for more than 200 years now. And in the past 20 years, about 75 reported sightings have been turned in Just sayin'. Google it and read about it. Tootles. |

Could the bunny have been running from a coyote (maybe Wiley) and jumped in the downspout for cover?
Coyotes in Villages We do have them here in the Villages. One was spotted in our neighborhood last year.
