Hopefully this is the worst kind of thread we have.

I would hate to read a thread about something horrific - break-ins, rapes etc.
I may not like it, it may annoy me but - I can deal with POOP !

I step in dog poop probably every other week while at Doggie Doo Run Run (DDRR) because of poop that no one has flagged. At DDRR you are supposed to mark you dog's poop with flags. Many times people are too busy socializing at the dog park to even mark the poo, or their eyesight is bad, or they have trouble getting around.

I know people who take their dogs twice a day to DDRR because that's where the dog(s) has learned to do its business.

Even heard of dogs which when on trips will wait up to three days or so to poop just because they are so trained to poop at DDRR rather than any where else.

However, there is so much that is good about the Villages; cannot understand why this topic gets so much vitriol.

Tal, even with your eloquent vocabulary, I don't think you're going to convince people that trespassing on their lawns is okay. It's not, see post #65.

If anyone is unable to control their dogs while walking them, they shouldn't take them out of their yards. Dog walkers, keep your dogs in the street with a short leash and respect your neighbor's property. In all of the years we had a dog, they were never allowed to roam on a lawn other than ours.

Kudos to you, Tal, for taking your pet to the dog park so often and I do wish there were more dog park areas planned around The Villages for owners. But it is disgusting to be sitting at the kitchen table enjoying a meal and have a lazy pet owner allow their pet on our lawn to do their business. It does amaze me that the perps are willing to diminish or dismiss this as a non-issue but then again, perhaps they don't own a corner lot.

I am SHOCKED that some people assume it's all good to allow their dog on someones property. Let alone going #1 or #2.

Attn Dog owners: Do not think for 1 second you love your dog(s) more than I love my lawn. It is NEVER alright for your dog(s) to even put one paw on my turf.

Keep you dogs on the street/sidewalk/mulit-modal paths etc. I dont cut, trim, fertilize, dethach, spray insecticide or fungicide, aerate or irrigate the streets. Do what you want on your own property.

And if you want to be a good neighbor, assume every home owner feels the same way.

There is a huge private ten-acre dog park which is minutes away from the heart of The Villages. Our big dog spends an hour every day romping and playing with other big dogs. It isn't necessary to have an acreage to exercise a big dog.
