The first 10 feet of what most people consider “their yard” is right of way and is up for grabs.

Yes it is for the most part. Some don’t recognize property rights. Your dog, your property. Easy as that. Unless you don’t mind if I relieve myself on your property after a late night at the Squares.

Take a law class, you will learn you are wrong. Any right of way is for required crews like city personnel, utilities, etc. NOT for anyone else, that is actually trespassing. Guess we know you believe you’re welcome to anyone’s property.

We are not dog haters and have recently lost our dog.
Why can't folks have the dog poop on their own lawn and then go for walk.
We had a poop place in our backyard for our dog to poop.
I'd love to hear other people's thoughts on this.
I totally agree with you!! Dog Owners, have your dog poop on your lawn first before taking them out for a walk!! Find a dog park in your area and take your dog there to poop!!

In most cases the people are not walking the dogs, the dogs are walking the people.

If you are considering buying here, keep in mind that this happens, it is legal, and there’s nothing you can do about it. You won’t find The Villages to be America’s friendliest home town if you start berating dog owners. Dogs go where they go, and owners are relieved when it happens, so they can go home. One reason for walking dogs is to help them feel the need. Many of us don’t have enclosed yards and are nervous about trusting an underground electric fence.

Let's understand when they are trespassing. Check your plot diagram. In most yards, the front property line ends approximately 12-13 feet from the curb. You do not own the area from that line to the curb. Thus, if they encroach on that area, by law, they are not trespassing.

I don't mind if dogs urinate on my lawn. There are not a lot of public places in the neighborhoods where you can wait a while. Regarding pooping, that is not a problem as long as they pick up after they do that. Most people pick up the poop, but not everyone. I just don't understand that.

We always pick up after our baby girl. Believe me I wish she would go on my lawn. Walking her 3x a day is not fun for us. I’ve stayed out there with her for long periods of time and will only pee. She needs to walk in order to poo. So we walk!! If that really bothers, then there are communities that are pet free. Maybe that would be better for those who find this to be a big problem. I couldn’t image spending my day watching to see if dogs are on my lawn. I think there are lots of other more fun things to do in TV.

My gosh, do folks just sit with their eyes glued to the windows to catch dogs pooping? I wouldn't even know if a dog pooped in my yard nor would I care as long as it was pick up. Good grief, go enjoy your lives and stop worrying about poop.

Not exactly. Have you looked at your property plat drawing? On my plat, the front lot line is located about 10 feet back from the edge of the street pavement. The space between the front lot line and the street are not part of my property, although I am required to maintain it. But, someone who walks in that space is not trespassing.

What's the big deal, as long as they pick it up ?
