When we first got here, we were surprised to hear hard rock in the town squares. Zep, Stones, Skynyrd etc… I’m sure that stuff was abrasive to some people at first. Times change, demographics change, tastes change. I like the station, but not every song. And I think I’ve always felt that way about any station I ever listened to.

What, did I hit a nerve? The difference is that a poster who is YeOldeCurmudgeon at least admits that their opinion is less than informed. You present yourself as the voice of wisdom and reason while spouting hate too often and defending it as humor. I am fairly certain that your patients who were not white, straight, and cis, were not treated with the same respect as those that met your requirements. Run DMC's "Walk This Way" (which resurrected Aerosmith's career) came out in 1986 and was a MASSIVE hit on MTV...

The only time I hear the villages station is when I’m in the squares and that’s more then enough . I’ve been hearing the chant “there’s no good music anymore “ since the 40’s and those people are always wrong .there is always good new music to be found if your open to it ,not only in USA but so much international music and so many ways to hear it , I use satellite and Pandora , but there are other ways ,yes I still like to listen to the crooners and big bands , the jazz greats and the 50’s golden oldies , but I also enjoy quite a lot of new music including a younger generation of jazz artists , some rap which is just an extension of jazz, Caribbean music , lots of Latin and international music , maybe if people stopped chanting 2 things I’ve never said “ there’s no good music anymore “ and “ that’s the way we always did it” they might have more fun in there life , I’m 83 still enjoying new sights, new sounds , new foods and always ready to embrace the future and the new things it will offer .

The demographics are different now when it comes to music. There's at least one change in music style for each generation. The station has the challenge of satiating a rather diverse market when it comes to what music they should play. One suggestion is to have WTLV set up a format where, on a daily basis, each "style of music" is featured during a fixed time period. They could cover six stylistic periods over 24 hours or eight if they went in 3 hour shifts. This way folks who love the 50's & early 60's music might know that every day...at a specific time, they can tune in and listen to their favorite songs. Though folks in the mid 60's on up are most likely not fans of rap, there are folks in their 50's who are. So, wouldn't it be nice that from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. once could tune in and listen to Elvis, Buddy Holly, the Temps..etc. and at 12 midnight to 4 a..m. the rap-sters could have their turn! Just sayin..

If you do not listen to Rap how did you know it was a Rap song? I do not believe it was real Rap. Doubt that WVLG was playing Tupac, Big Daddy Kane or any hard rappers. Probably Salt & Peppa, Nellie or worst of all The Black Eyed Peas all notorious hard rapper thugs. Started in the early 60's with music and have enjoyed many genres in my 65 years. Was told I was going to be a murderer because I listened to Steppenwolf, funny that did not happen. Times change and music follows changing demographics of who go to concerts and buy music. Can not believe that one song overrides the majority of songs you hear. Like not going to a restaurant that serves an item on the menu that you do not like. Oh well pay for a streaming service and only listen to the one channel you like.

What you don't get is how the station is programmed. TV demographic doesn't ever change but the population does.

If you moved here in 1992 at age 55 you're hopefully 85 now, so you'd have been born pre WWII and listened to big band,the famous crooners, country and western, early rock n roll, r&b, etc.

If you moved here in 2022 at age 55 you'd have been born in the Woodstock era and grew up listening to hard rock, punk, disco, pop, new country, grunge and yes, even rap.
