I hate to say it but I watch Judge Judy for ha-ha's at 3 on Fox13. It's getting so bad with the commercials that my watching is about to end.
The spots if they aren't ambulance chasers, they are now drug addicts or aids infected viewers. Drug companies are making ads OFFENSIVE to many of us.

Goodbye fox 13.

So as long as you are careful in what you write, think about it before you hit the submit reply button, I will not call out what I see. I have never attacked you in this forum except in response to what you have written. I did send you one PM about one of your posts where I thought a private conversation explaining something would be met with a positive response. It was not, you've doubled down on the behavior and attempted to mock me for being sensitive about the topic.

And to answer your question.. I never was aware of the politics of my patients. Children generally don't have political opinions. I know I was sympathetic and supportive of my gay patients, and my transgender patient. I had patients/parents from every major religious group including atheism and pastafarianism. I had partners who were Jewish, Hindu, and both mainstream and Evangelical Christian. I had a partner who showed me a photograph she said was taken at an appearance of Mary which she said showed the bars of the Pearly Gates. I was an attending at a Children's hospital with doctors from all over the world who were my peers and my superiors.

But I will admit that I did not treat all my patients the same. I had a few families discharged from the practice over the years for comments they made about not wanting to see a doctor from India, or refusing to allow a Black MA to assist in their child's visit, because of the race of the MA. Out you go.

I like to think I have an open mind and heart. I am sure that there are closed doors in my subconscious which I hope I keep locked tightly. I married a Republican.

And I don't care for rap music. It does not speak to me any more than country or gospel or opera or madrigals. But here on this forum we have people, seemingly without irony or self awareness attacking rap music for containing foul language, and how do they describe rap, as being crap, a word that certainly in their formative years was not acceptable. See, ok for old white people to fly their Eff the Potus flags, and to use language I don't think they learned in church and in the next breath attack rap for foul language. Such an inconsistency is worth pointing out even if it only makes one person think for one second about why it is ok for our Villages' culture to encourage Eff the President flags and then cry purity police about musicians using the same kinds of non-church language.

So TL: DR. Yes to a truce, no to my ignoring what I might see as racism, bigotry, sexism, and hate speech. You avoid making posts that seem to contain those topics and I will stay very quiet in my corner. See it as a sign, if you like, for my respect for a physician that I consciously expect more tolerance and more evidence of open-heartedness from a member of that profession than from the usual anonymous person on TOTV.
Fair enough. But I still don't like rap Actually, not true. It's just rap that advocates shooting police officers or "Beat that skanky ho". I'd take Lawrence Welk over that (yuk)

I also enjoy listening to almost every Casey Kasem AT40 show out there. He started 4th of July 1970 and went downhill in the 80s. End of era was 1988. There is an iheart internet stream where all you hear 24/7 is the radio shows and music of the 70s and 80s.

One of the bands said to a friend of mine they were told to start incorporating more songs from the 80’s up in their song lists. Apparently the radio station was told to do the same - Cater to the younger generation.

I'm actually OK with WVLG playing the variety they do. I'm in my late 50's, and I like music from a multitude of eras, but my favorite is 70's and 80's, when I grew up, probably like most. I suspect if I live out my life here, at some point they will be playing stuff from 2012, as that would be "the 80's" to 50 year olds then. I probably won't like it.

I think a good bellwether is what bands turn out the biggest crowds at the squares, like the Hooligans (70's rock) and Spazmatics (80's pop/new wave). When those bands play, the squares are packed. Swing Theory and bands playing 50's and 60's do-wop stuff? Not so much anymore. Those fans are in their 70's and even 80's. They are either passing, or just can't get out anymore. It's not right or wrong, it just is.

As the Rolling Stones said "Time waits for no one, and it won't wait for me"

You are absolutely correct! The younger seniors are moving here in their 50s and have complained that the rock and roll and doo wop we grew up with is not what they grew up with. Unfortunately, the time will come when rap will be blaring from the radio as the younger generations will insist that’s what they grew up with! 🤮

In American I have choices and the freedom to turn the channel, shut if off, or simply don’t listen. Music has and will be subjective to listeners. Don’t like don’t listen, turn channel, or turn it off.

I listen to radio music as a last resort.

1st choice is Pandora ... I hear only the type of music that I enjoy. If they throw in a song that I don't like, I give it a "thumbs down" and they never play it again.

2nd choice is Sirius XM ... they mostly play what I like on the channels I use.

Not a big fan of rap, but I expect to hear more of it as the younger generation retires. I figure it's only a matter of time before WVLG does 'The 90s at 9'.

I think you've hit on a possible solution!
90s at nine,
10s at ten......etc. etc....the beauty of this approach is that those of us who don't enjoy the later music will all be asleep by the time it comes on.

As they used to say on the Guiness commercials, "BRILLIANT!"

That must have been written by somebody else (maybe wife or ?) because it contained none of the usual misspelled words (things like there when it should be the possessive their) or any one of a multiple of grammatical and syntactical errors that I have come to expect from that user name. Maybe a resurrection of clearheadedness happened today. Whatever he was drinking.........please pour me a large one!

They had a jazz trio at LSL this week and I had never seen it so empty. I like the jazz loving book and screen character Harry Bosch, but not so much jazz.

why is everybody jumping on other users? it's getting personal in some cases. everybody take a breath & just discuss opinions in a positive way. our differences make it interesting
