The store cannot keep any money they collect as a "sales tax". All of this money goes to the state and county. And, they cannot charge a tax on a product that they give away for free, like a "buy one get one free". The free one cannot be taxed.

Actually do not think they paid a sales tax as they bought it for resale so they would just pay when they sell the product.
