I think smart casual would be most appropriate for going to a nice restaurant like Lopez CC. The level of dress has steadily declined over the decades. A photograph that sticks in my mind show men in suits and hats and women in dresses lining up to see a movie in downtown Houston in the 1930's or 40's.

Now we mostly dress like slobs.

Dressing up a little for dinner at Lopez would be a fitting start for life in The Villages.

Angry Don’t appreciate wife-beater T shirt messages

It is probably an age difference level of acceptance, however, I am not comfortable or appreciative of comments like wife-beating T shirts. Nor would I respect something like I Kick my husband’s ass T shirts either. So I am not biased on this topic.

I wore a uniform for 20 years in the Army and a suit and tie in my work after the Army for close to 30 years. I will dress up a bit for Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas but the rest of the time it is shorts and a T shirt or a shirt with collar for more than casual dining.

Years ago people would dress up for dinner at the country clubs. I miss that. Now almost anything goes. Casual dress is fine anywhere.

I wear green and gold tartan long pajama bottoms and a lovely polo shirt I bought white, cropped the bottom to show off my perfect bellybutton, and then tie-dyed the shirt in day-glo hues. It all coordinates perfectly with the purple golf shoes that I drew smiley faces on in bold yellow, and rainbow glitter shoelaces.

I would love to see ALL men in colored shirts and pants (no shorts). But that's just me getting tired of seeing men's ugly legs in nice places such as Lopez🥴 Personally, I love to be dressed nicely at all times, but everybody does just about anything they want around here. Which is also a nice thing❣️🤗

I have been in Florida for off in on for 30 years but it doesn’t matter wherevI’m living I never wear shorts at night even when I lived at the beach I were slacks or jeans ( skinny ones)always with shoes or short boots , Ive always done this and I’ve lived in some of the hottest countries on earth. Look I know I’m a clothes guy Amani, Hugo Boss but gentleman some of you at least could put on a fresh pair of shorts at night and believe me looking at your upper thigh while your sitting in a booth is not a pleasant site . I’m 82 I’ll keep my standards high soon back to high end stores in Orlando a year without shoppers is a very bleak year

People just don’t dress up anymore. Sometimes slacks and a collared shirt or a nice dress helps make the evening better

Wife beaters are a type of t shirt and got their name from 90% of men arrested for domestic violence seem to wear a tank top.

My kids would not let me out of the house if my shorts did not reach my knees. I hate spending money on clothes so most shorts come from kohl’s, target or Sears in their day. All t shirts are from sport teams, campground, grandkids, Aruba etc. I have 1 pair of jeans if it gets cold and no other long pants. A restaurant either wants my money or they don’t.
