Yes, it should take care of your tree problem - but you would be liable for the replacement cost of the tree - and I assume we are not talking a sapling. That could be thousands of dollars PLUS criminal charges. Very poor solution as well as showing TOTV what kind of a neighbor you are.

If this is sarcastic nuance ...

I know when to quit when the ladies chime in Driveway damage from neighbor's tree

Some of you would qualify as participants on the TV show "Neighbor From Hell".

I settled in here to read comments but after reading what happened with your neighbor cutting on your tree, I can't enjoy TOTV now because I can't get past this. It makes me ill thinking of how violated you were. The arrogance of that bully's explanation! This was so blatantly wrong, but Sweetie is so right.

Talking Dixie

I've really enjoyed reading this thread, which has some accurate responses and some travels far afield.

In summary, if you are talking about a healthy tree shedding leaves and twigs in the normal process of nature it is most unlikely that you can have it declared a "nuisance."

So......in answer to your question of "Where do you file an official complaint...?" This answer is as good as any:

Go to a town square and whistle Dixie........for all the good it will do.

(For the benefit of our many transplanted citizens, the general idiomatic meaning of this phrase is: "to engage in unrealistic fantasies; waste one's time")

Then the escalation would be it's a dog not a person. When we "care less" stuff happens.

That is an invalid argument, try again.

What you are suggesting (or not suggesting) is vandalism. I am pretty sure you are just kidding, however.

Or, I'm not saying you should do this but a cup of gasoline poured evenly across the trees drip line once a week for a month or two should take care of your problem for good.

I have a neighbor that was raking my yard when I first moved in. I asked her why she was raking my yard and she told me that the neighbor on the other side turned her in because her tree leaves were falling in that lady's yard. She said that she was told by TV that she had to clean up the leaves from her neighbors yards. She has been doing this for years, never in my life have I herd something so nuts as that. If I am raking my yard and the wind blows what I am raking over in the neighbors yard I would go retrieve those leaves but what the tree drops in their yard is theirs to keep.

If a live tree , on your property, falls on your neighbors property it is their problem. If a dead tree , on your property, falls on your neighbors property it is your problem.
I had a live tree , that had actually started to go had in the center, break and fall on his garage. You could not see that it was going bad. Full leaf growth.
The first thing the insurance man asked was "Did it have leaves"?
I offered to pay the deductible. He said no. He got a new garage roof for $500.

I THINK that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the sweet earth's flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.

Have you asked your neighbors to keep their trees trimmed back?? I can understand your frustration as our homes are so close
