I have a wooden folding drying rack that I use just for delicate, hand washed clothes and put it on the lanai in the sun. Dries in a matter of a few hours.

Oh brother do I miss my clothes line and the smell of fresh hung out to dry sheets! When I actually had a line that was not restricted I hung everything out - barely used the dryer. Clothes last longer, look better, and less wrinkled.

Same here. A dryer is hard on good clothes. Nice cotton clothes start look shabby when dried over and over. Hanging clothes is hardly inconvenient and save electricity, too.

Do NOT put even damp clothes in a closet, let alone wet ones -- ever!

Eventually, you will get mold growing on all your clothes, shoes, etc.

My advice would be to always keep a light on in your closet.
Keep the closet door closed and the heat from the light bulb
will help to keep your closet dry.

I have a wall mounted drying rack in the laundry room. You just lift it up when you want it when done push it down when you're done. I also have plastic holders that hang over the top of the doors in the laundry room. Sweaters, I have a table top mesh square and put it on my lanai table and lay the sweater on it.

One of my neighbors washes quilts and bedspreads in her washer while her husband washes the car. Then he pulls car nice and clean into garage and she spreads spreads/quilts on car to dry. Out of sun so no fading and no wrinkles from stuffing into dryer. Works great!
