Bottom line, stone crest golf carts can not get accross 441 without coming thru the villages private Berlin wall gate and then over the bridge.
It may not be legal but carts cross there all the time.

No, but they do it anyway. Unless there is an officer there, which in most cases there is not, nothing to stop from crossing there. The police have better things to do then watch a bunch of seniors illegally crossing 441.

Seems like an easy ticket to write, what would be better?

I am totally befuddled at the anger and the 'us only' attitude displayed toward people like those from Stonecrest, who simply want to drive their golf carts to places like Spanish Springs...to spend their money.

I dare anyone to argue that additional sales, is detrimental to ANY business in Spanish Springs...or any other business in TV.

And since these 'outsiders' could do the same thing by getting in their automobiles and drive to the same locations, could someone please give a cogent explanation why the mode of transportation to get somewhere...makes any difference?

And please save the "extra wear and tear of the roads/MMP's" from these golf carts...because that false argument is dead on arrival.

'Extreme tribalism' is the cause of so many of this great country's current problems....do we really need to lower it to something this trivial?

There is a simple answer to your bewilderment. They are old, cranky, and bitter at life. They believe the Commercial property was built for their exclusive use. Some seem to think the police are just waiting to catch the major law breaker taking that cart across 441. Major bust of the day. They have far better things to do with their time. I've been waiting at the light there and watched a cart cross and the police just ignored it. No one cares. I believe this is where a gentleman was killed crossing in a Cart. Very sad. I also see North of me where there is a path from a Trailer Park North of Stonecrest. They are apparently coming across the vacant land, following the service road, and getting to Walmart. If there is a will there is a way. No law or ordinance ever stopped some one on a mission. I'm just glad the Duke nonsense is done and buried. I was not going to be a happy camper if I lost my access to my dentist and Lowes because someone thought Duke should pay for damage to their cart. The reason this all surfaced in the first place. Now just waiting for WAWA to get built and the circle of life will be complete. There will be nothing I need to drive the car for from that point further.

The Villages wants to keep prices high. Why would they allow golf cart access to a competing community that sells houses and advertised village amenities?

There needs to be a name given to the Duke Energy Path. Lets call it the Stonecrest Trail since it was volunteers in Stonecrest and the Stonecrest Board and Management that actually did all the work to get this transferred over to the county.

The Villages is advertised as a golf cart community and has invested resources into making that a strong reason to buy. Why would they want to give away that advantage by opening the gates?

Feature: we are a golf cart community. Benefit: owners can get to everything in the community by golf cart. If neighboring communities had the same access that incentive is diminished.

I say let's just call it the Duke energy trail...being that it was already named that.

I am very Interested in reading about that volunteer work, if you have a link.

I believe it's about the Berlin Gate which the path leads to. We looked at both Stonecrest and the Villages. A primary factor in us deciding on the villages were the facilities and amenities. Since they rarely check id's at the rec centers, one could drive their cart (if there was no gate) and use the facilities and pools.

??? I have my ID checked 95% of the time at any rec center I use whether it is for a meeting, to play pool, or use the swimming pool. Just wondering which rec center you use where they don't check ID's.

The wall at the gate was a pure political move by the developer. You know that wall was made of Styrofoam. I'd like to know what amenities are in TV and not in Stonecrest. Again I'm glad this has come to a close. If it were not for People here in Stonecrest the path would probably be fenced off. And the improvements were all done by people in Stonecrest. There were some Villagers that donated some cash to the effort. If the path would have closed it would have inconvenienced many in both communities. A definite good deal for all involved. I doubt Marion County puts any money into the Duke Path but we all may be surprised.
