Well, has anybody heard that the allergy filter for the heat pump/furnace that costs $1000 will remove most of the dust as well? I'd give up $1000 worth of dinners out if it's true.

So glad that the dust issue came up. We have more dust at this newly built house than all of our other homes and some were in desert locations. We replaced all of our carpeting with laminate flooring, the rest of our flooring is tile, and it did not help. Sure wish we could figure out what contractor service could fix this problem. My husband has COPD, particulate matter not good. |

I had an Aprilaire filter installed in the a/c unit. It made a big difference. Without it, I sneezed 24/7. With it, I'm fine.

Aside from cutting down on your sneezing, is it cutting down on the dust in your house?

I have believed, since I moved here, that all this dust is due to all the construction that is still going on. The earth movers and grading of land will allow a lot of this sandy dust to penetrate into the air and obviously come through our doors and vents? With all the filters and purifiers I have in my house, I still get a lot of dust. Here is the link: Air Purifiers from Aprilaire

I have a neighbor who gives the filter mixed reviews. We have the same dust issues as everyone else has previously posted. It drives my wife crazy, but I just wear dark glasses in the house so I can't see it.

Could the significant number of sand traps on the golf courses contribute to this problem?

If you are worried about this mystery dust , you can always have it tested.

I must be the luckiest girl in the world; no dust here on Ragsdale Loop; back in Virginia we have loads of dust, but I think that is because A. we live under a bridge, and B. our lightkeeper's house is over 100 years old.

I am not one to purchase as seen on TV products but I did purchase Dutch Glow Amish Wood Milk at Bed, Bath, & Beyond to see if I could clean up two inherited maple end tables that had 50 years of my mother's Pledge polishing build up on them. I was shocked how this product cleaned up these tables, and now they and the rest of my wood furniture I use it on attract very little dust.
