There is only one person like Ed McGinty in the whole Villages' area. He is not representative of any group here.

Her shirt is no different than his signs. And she is not out yelling at him, following him, going to his house. Freedom of speech is one thing but common sense is another.

Does anyone ever worry about Defamation of Character when they post about neighbors be it man or woman?
Defamation Any intentional false communication, either written or spoken, that harms a person's reputation; decreases the respect, regard, or confidence in which a person is held; or induces disparaging, hostile, or disagreeable opinions or feelings against a person. Defamation may be a criminal or civil charge. It encompasses both written statements, known as libel, and spoken statements, called slander. |

actually he very much IS representative of hell of a lot of people on "one side of the spectrum" that think ugliness, rudeness and violence in order to shut down somebody's free speech, let alone their livelihood, is appropriate. he's just an example HERE. how about people that confront people in restaurants, in public bathrooms, in front of their homes. It's pretty much the same. and there are millions that think that this is ok. He just happens to be a local example, albeit one that appears to be mentally ill.

Waiting for the day when Ed and his dingy counterpart in the beat up van(or SUV) run into each other.

I don't think so. I was referring to the guy who drives around blaring on a speaker who knows what. He'll stop and get out and rant and rave like the reverend in Crimes of Passion.

Not so. Ed is in a golf cart, and you can drive by him on the street, and then you don't see him again. She wore her shirt/political sign to a class or gathering at a pool. Others attending this class or in attendance at the pool have to endure her idiotic political views if they want to enjoy time in or about pool. She certainly has the right to her views, but shoving it down people's throats in a class or a pool environment is ignorant and rude and ruins it for everyone in attendance. I don't know why people feel they have to do this. I really feel sorry for her neighbors who have to look at her stupid political shrine in her garage every day of the week. That's not what the Villages is about - its supposed to be friendly and welcoming. She and her ilk have turned it into a battlefield. We all see people flaunting the rules and putting up political flags with disparaging slogans. The architectural review committee should take a more active stance on banning this stuff. Political signs at one's home during election season are one thing, but having them on view 14 hours/day, 365 days a year are something else. And by the way, she has gotten into shouting matches with neighbors who didn't agree with her views.

I was going from Spanish Springs to LSL a few weeks before the last elects and there was a Trump rally going on at the corner of 466 and Morse. Pro Trump people were on the corner of each side of 466 and holding signs and waving as cars went by. Cars would blow their horns and wave back sometimes in disagreement. It was all harmless and everyone seemed to be having a good time. As I went by the same area on my return trip I noticed two police cars with their lights on on the southeast corner of Morse and 466. I went over to see what was going on and there in the middle of all of the Trump supporters was McGinty and a friend both with their golf carts festooned with vulgar anti Trump signs. The police were about to arrest him when they finally convinced him to leave. Now I have to ask, what did he think that he was going to accomplish with this stunt? Did he think that he was going to change anyone's mind or did he just want to start trouble. I believe that it was the latter. Not only would he like to start a fight but then he would blame it on Trump for being divisive. I don't care what you political beliefs are but that kind of behavior is unacceptable. In fact, I hate all negativity in political campaigns. How about just telling people why you like your guy for a change. Ed McGinty has serious mental illness and if it's not addresses, there is going to be a serious problem at some point.
