that includes DVR. It includes discounts that I got when I informed them I was leaving (no contract after 6 months) as a result of the original discounts running out after a year. Just asked for the retention dept. and they gave me a better price then I originally had. Let me repeat that one point again, absolutely no contract with either my original or current deal for longer than 6 months, and that 6 months is only to get a better deal.

I too switched from DirecTV. Great picture but got tired of the weather outages. Would have preferred BrightHouse but it was not available in my neighborhood. Got the basic package plus HD from CenturyLink Prism a month ago. So far, I'm satisfied. Add to that the 10mg download on the internet. Starting package price was less than DirecTV alone. I signed up via an internet chat and printed it out to protect against any irregular billings. BTW, when I canceled DirecTV, I had no less than 3 calls from their retention group promising me the moon if I stayed.

We've only had one problem with Prism...the picture freezing. Turned out it was the box. The technician was called on a Sat...said he'd be out 1st thing on Monday. Doorbell rang on Sunday and it was him saying he was in the area anyway and how could he help us. He connected us with a new box and we had great reception. Have never had any of the issues with Prism that others are stating here.

We were pretty happy with DirecTV...but that being said the weather *does* affect programming. We got sick of the programming going out plus Prism was cheaper and we're always trying to save a buck when we can.

In hurricane season the last thing you want is the tv to go out when you're trying to look at the latest updates while a storm is kicking up.
