Default Window moter replacement

My good friend who lives in TV just had to replace the driver's side window motor on her Cadillac for $620.

For us it’s about convenience and not rolling the window down all the time. We have electronic readers in our auto and our Atomic cart. Just roll up to the reader and BINGO the gate opens. Easy peasy and well worth the $20.

We replaced the window actuator and motor in our 2018 vehicle right before we came to TV in 2023. (The local dealer wanted $950 to do it.)

Then we used the warranty to replace it AGAIN in 2025 after it failed on my wife at her now-awkward Starbucks drive thru visit.

I can’t blame the gates as we started using the disc inside the door mirror in 2024. But just showing that these power window motors do go bad.

Back on topic, I understand that the white cards will still work once they implement the new sticker system. I have to imagine our mirror discs will still work as well.

It's easy! Don't roll down your window. You don't have to. Get close and just put your card to the window. Is that not convenient enough? I think I've made this comment three times in this string. Does anyone read the previous posts?

At EVERY car/golf cart crossing, the car always has the right of way (at least that I have seen) and if the golf cart wants to ignore the stop sign, then the outcome is on them
Correct! LAW! He can go ahead and take his supposed righ-of-way...he'll be dead right. I think someone needs to take the golf cart safety course again.

And there is at least one more poster who has noted in other threads that the cards won't work through his window.

Current readers require the motorist to stop at the gate and display a gate card before the gate opens. At almost every gate in The Villages there is a multi-modal path behind the gate.
The District wants you to purchase a sticker that you affix to your driver’s side headlight. On average the distance from the vehicle’s headlight to the driver’s side window is about 5 or 6 feet. This means, even if the reader is set to read the approaching vehicle at 1 or 2 feet, and you are using a sticker on your headlight the gate could open up to 10 feet prior to reaching the card reader. the distance from the gate arm to the multi-modal path is about 10 or 15 feet. Meaning the operator of a vehicle will not be required to come to a complete stop and could easily reach speeds of 25 or more miles per hour when getting to the multi-modal path.
Yep, it's a BAD idea...to save, what, seven seconds? People--golf cart OR car--rarely slow any more than necessary now at the gates. Why everyone is in such a hurry in a retirement community still baffles me, but I digress. So, what do we suppose is going to happen when these "new & improved" readers open the gates like a SunPass... SMASH! If anything, they should just put all the gates back in construction mode. No $$$ spent for a problem that doesn't exist.

As reported on the other news site.
My card works through the window. You don’t have to roll it down on MOST gates. Just put it at the window and slowly move it around until it catches the sensor. BINGO!

I guess you didn’t do your homework to realize/know that the system in The Villages doesn’t currently use any of what you posted above….

Traditional Gate Cards: The legacy "window wave" proximity cards use a standard 125 kHz low-frequency RFID chip (specifically matching the legacy T5577 format). This is why third-party "stealth chips" hidden in side-mirror housings must use 125 kHz cloners to function.

So again , 4~6 INCHES is where you need to be for your gate card to work …
