Again, I just want to know WHAT exactly are they using them for? I think they are wonderful for specific targets, known fugitives, imminent threats, amber alerts etc. but I am a little hesitant of using them as SOP.
I did hear on the news this morning that they are using them for surveillance..but they didn't say surveillance of what. WHAT are they using them for?

I will be playing golf today looking out for the poop they will be throwing down while they record my lousy shots.

Now, twelve years later...sure send drones overhead to record the moves of American citizens, by all means, if I'm not doing anything wrong, I don't care. Next year, stick a camera up my a$$, it's all good.

LOL, I had that done this year!

Do you mean Gracie's post saying the drones are armed with dog poop?

The drones may be good targets for the Kool Gun Club or, we could get that guy in the jet plane golf cart to shoot them down!

What about the money being wasted on new toys for the police??? don't they have enough toys??? Boats, airplanes, jets, atv's, cars, trucks, ect........ How much of this equipment is really useful or more importantly needed?? They will FIND a reason to use the new equipment and then when it gets used inappropriately and they get caught, then we will have to spend yet more money on new regs, laws, rules, ect........ Can they just STOP spending out money??

I agree with many of the posters about the erosion of personal privacy. When was the last time rights were ever returned once taken????? Fist place to look regarding this issue is who stands to gain from it. Well, funny you asked. Lobbyist for companies like Lockeed Martin, General Dynamics and Honeywell are responsible for these drones. They even helped push through legislation affecting the FAA which now allows for the drones to share space with other aircraft. Really, like we need more traffic up there??? Just remember, you never know who will be in charge in the future and will have access to all this "stuff."

I would be worried if I was growing marijuana, which I don't, so I'm not worried in the least. Maybe the drones will catch some of the people that don't stop @ stop signs, or people that feed the alligators.

Sure, just put them all back on foot, when you take away their "toys", your words, not mine. Just remember when you call them for help, it might take hours for them to respond on foot. Why are you so anti-police anyways.? Something they've done to you, like maybe given you a ticket or three?

Anything the police need gets my full support.

Just curious, do you still pay taxes???? I know I sure pay my fair share and it seems to me that spending tens if not hundreds of thousands of dollars to look for pot is kind of steep. I also suppose you wouldn't mind if the police search your home without a warrant, search your car or go through your personal records?Hey, you're not doing anything wrong, so why not? I do. I am as straight and law abiding as the day is long, but I've seen enough of my personal liberties taken away and don't want any more.....

I am sure that they can be very useful in certain situations. BUT, an everyday "cruising" mission I don not feel is warranted. No, I don't do anything wrong to be worried about but as others have said - where does it stop?

I don't understand what some of you are worried about. If you are not a perp, what is the difference? The safest I've ever felt was when I was in Tel Aviv where there was a soldier with a machine gun on every corner. If a drone helps me and mine be safer, why would you object?

Yes Yes Yes. seems clear to me, if you are not a crook, they will not bother with you. What are you hiding?

Drones in the sky don't bother me in the least. But "a soldier with a machine gun on every corner" made you feel safe? Really? To me that could ONLY suggest the possibility of imminent danger. Why else would they be there??
