I must be too naïve to understand this or too oblivious to have noticed. We won't move in full time until next month, but we have spent 2 weeks in our home in June 2014, Oct 2014, Feb and April 2015. I was expecting these last 2 visits to be the high season nightmare everyone is posting. I was surprised to find none of it. The roads were not backed up. I saw no golf cart jams. I drove BV from Hillsborough Trail to 466 in under 10 min. There were no more than the usual number of idiots in the RBs. We ate out or picked up take out every night. Walked right into Las Tapas at 6 PM, no wait. Evans prairie, no wait. Cody's LSL, 10 min wait at 6:30. Japanese restaurant at LSL, no wait. The longest line was for take out at McAllister's in BW, and we were 8th on line. Shopped at Winn-Dixie Pinellas, not very crowded. Shopped at the dreaded Publix in Colony, not a problem. Played golf on Evans Prairie, Havana, Hacienda and Cane Garden--no problem getting tee time. Played a couple execs with my neighbor, he got the tee time but stated he never has a problem. Traffic on 466 was moderately heavy, but I hit it as the Charter School was letting out. 466A was no problem at all. The only highway that was "big city busy" was 441 at rush hour. Our neighborhood pool had at most 2 people at any one time, I don't know about the more popular activities at the Rec centers.
We left both times confused over where the "crowds" were
Now maybe it as a matter of prospective, originally coming from a large metropolitan area, but if what I experience was "busy", don't try living on Long Island, or even Staten Island

I don't blame Frogs for complaining about increased traffic and waiting times in restaurants.
Because Frogs are in TV all summer, they tend to feel that the 50% reduction in population is "the way things should be".
However many seasonal residents pay for amenities all year long, yet use them only in the winter.
Can you imagine the consternation and negative comments if all Seasonal Residents decided to spend the summer in TV!

Do NOT let these conversations make anyone feel that their friendship is not treasured or that we understand how this economy works. It just is more crowded and there are a lot of "guests" rather than owners.

It's true that a lot of the crowds in High Season are renters and visitors.
People from up North probably have less interest in renting or visiting during the summer months.
I do feel sympathy for Frogs. I've been in TV in December when a lot of residents leave town to visit their kids.
And I must confess, it's kinda cool.

Agree.............that is why the complainers are Glass Half Empty people. Rather than being Half Full, "Thanks for paying the amenities fee and Thanks for being gone half the year."

I don't know how they do it but somehow they make it get dark earlier. I wish they wouldn't.
