An older couple were pushing their shopping cart down the middle of the lane (yes, it would have been more polite to move to the side) An elderly man driving his car got frustrated with this and zoomed by, just missing them and giving them a one finger salute as he passed by (yes, he should have waited an extra 30 seconds until they got out of his way and the "salute" was uncalled for). The man who was walking with his wife, went ballastic, chased after the car and began yelling at the driver to never flip off his wife. The elderly driver stopped his car, returned the yelling with a threat that he was going to get his gun. Talk about over reacting on everyone's part. Thank goodness the driver just gunned it and drove off.
Yikes! I wonder if "Snowbird Season" is putting everyone in a bad mood.
It is especially scary when cars are in such a hurry they mistake golf cart paths for roads! No excuse for that!

It may be Moon Over Miami in the song, but there must be a FULL moon sitting over The Villages.

I've been sitting here for a while, watching the early morning news, it was pitch black outside a half hour ago, and quite a few people drivng around with either just their parking lights on or no lights at all.

It's crazy driving every where. Miss Sam was broadsided in Middleburg the other day. She was going down Main St and a driver looking for a parking spot close to the post office entered Main from a side street without looking. Bam. Miss Sam is OK, thank God. The new Honda, not so much. The driver was elderly.

That's a big IF, and..........

as far as staying out of each other's way...... FAT CHANCE

Throw in cell phones with talking/texting while driving and the problem gets even more serious

It is posts like this that makes me think of those unfortunate individuaks who were killed due to an error of judgement or just plain stupidity. Everyone will, make a mistake sooner or later when driving so I think it is best to watch for others mistakes as we would want them to be there for us when we make a mistake.

I for one will be more careful as I think it is sad that a pleasurable drive to somewhere could wind up in a tragedy.

The exchange was in a foreign language I didn't understand but went something like #$%%^&&***(()( and you @#@$$%^%^^&.
Maybe someone can clear up why a person would be walking or be running in the designated cart lane along the road, when there are sidewalks that most people use to do the same thing? (I'm not saying there was a sidewalk along the part of Canal these 2 woman were running) I see this along St Charles Pl. This of course forces the cart to move into the road and car traffic in order to get around these people. Just wondering why they prefer the road to the sidewalks? I'm guessing maybe it's the old staying "Step on a crack, break your mother's back"? Perhaps same thoughts for the person Rubicon mentioned, just expressed himself incorrectly......I'm still trying to piece together that foreign language, I've seen it somewhere before.

Thanks Becky

To bad the elderly couple at the shopping center did not get the persons license plate number who threatened them by "getting his gun." In Florida that is a felony, especially if that person is a CWL holder. Upon being found guilty, 3 years and lose of 2d Amendment rights forever. Personally I don't think that is enough punishment for being stupid in a "No Stupid Zone." These are the type of people that need to be taken off the street before they give the rest of us CWL holders a bad name. You need to be a competent adult to be trusted with a firearm and this proves that this man is not. Say something like that to me and if I can get your license plate number you will be getting a visit from the local deputy and facing a civil lawsuit for violation of my civil rights by threatening me with bodily harm. It does not matter under Florida law if the firearm is displayed or not. Just thought that everyone might be able to use this information.

I think they do it because the asphalt is softer and easier on the knees than is the concrete sidewalk. But the question remains.....if walkers are in the golf cart lane, shouldn't they hop back up on the sidewalk when they see a golfcart coming??

Just because he said he was getting his gun doesn't mean he had one.

Is saying "I'm getting my gun" a felony (with or without a gun)?

It is a threat that can be carried out easily. How is the victim to know whether or not he has one? That is up to the police to decide and take care of. The FL statue on CWL holders is very specific on this item. If he had a CWL and even if he did not have his firearm with him, if he is found guilty in a court of law then it is bye-bye for 3 years, don't pass go, no $200. Witnesses would be the deciding factor.
