Default POA snoozefest

Well, last night was the POA meeting in regard to deed restrictions. So boring. The reading of the wording of the restrictions codes was unbelievable.....we all can read, do not need to have someone just read line after line. And the questions, altho many were of a good general nature, had no resolution...basically the Deed compliance department does not enforce anything. Way too polite and patient. And the sign restrictions....there are actually restrictions and they have announced that they will not enforce them? really?

However, the doughnuts were fabulous!

Last night was the first time I have seen Janet T., I was surprised and disappointed, I thought she would be taller.

I agree with Travelguy, the deed restriction presentation was poorly done. Some of it may be due to the legal, technical nature of the subject but the presenter could have made more of an effort to translate legal concepts into simple English, which admittedly is not always easy. The Q&A is always entertaining. Next month's POA meeting will include a presentation by Lieutenant Wolf, Sumter County Sherriff’s office. As you might expect the monthly POA meetings are always well attended. Some meetings are more interesting than others.

So does this mean I can put my neon blinking light house for sale by owner sign back up?

I don't understand the part where you say the deed compliance department doesn't enforce anything.

They will flop your ears down if it is reported that you;

Put three large pink flamingos on your front lawn south of 466

Or try to build up to your property line.

Or move your toddler grandchildren in with you.

I think you mean that they don't police for deed violations, that they must be reported by someone before they lay down the consequences?

I wish someone would have asked Janet Tutt to explain what aesthetics means as it relates to deed restrictions. We were involved in an issue and found the meaning as defined by the ARC is that aesthetics are in the "eye of the beholder". Meaning; a resident can do almost anything they desire as long as they themselves think what they have created is pleasant to "their eyes"... In addition, what they have created cannot be SPECIFICALLY forbidden, and these are few in number. A couple are outside TV antenna, or a unattached building.

Janet Tutt, District Manager of TV was present during the Q&A to answer general questions. Janet was not the featured speaker for the Feb POA meeting. Diane Tucker spoke about Deed Compliance, and is the person to whom you might address all questions about deed compliance issues.

Ouch Gracie.....example: by the time they might get out to see if...the trashcans were in the driveway for days...then they would be gone. Why can't the Neighborhood Watch just note when they see things like that? Or if the shrubbery has not been trimmed in 9 months?
As far as pink flamingos on the lawn...easy remedy....bolt them to the side of the house. There are no restrictions on what can be hung on the side of houses....have you seen the giant butterflies or squirrels climbing the siding? And one can put for sale/rent signs in the windows...but not political signs, yet deed compliance has chosen not to enforce the restriction on signs other than sale/rent. Why are there restrictions if they have said that they will not enforce it?
Just another comment.

omigosh. The mental image of flamingos bolted to the side of the house.

What a sense of humor.

The answer to your other questions are...I dunno.
