Verify an installer does both or do the grounding yourself if you are confident in doing it. IMO, simply having the mast on or slightly in the group does not meet the requirements. The Weather Club recently had their yearly presentation of protecting your home from lightning. Sometimes they give the same presentation to other clubs. UPDATE: Video on grounding an outdoor tv antenna. https://youtu.be/5aey9rCC5Gs?si=oQ7miYIEgv6OwrMW

Their past prestations talk about lighting and usually have a Q&A section and you can ask them about outdoor antennas.

I'm on the other side of you in Altair Path and my setup is a DB-4 in the attic. I added a signal booster in the low voltage box which pretty much stopped any dropping channels.

I now have a stable connection for 60 or so channels, it turns out I had a BAD coaxial connection on a FACTORY MADE CABLE. I cut off the coax connector, installed my own replacement connector, and all is good. This avoids the $10 to $20 per month additional charge for TV to rooms that are rarely used for TV viewing.

So I know I have good signal. I liked Tablo, and it includes some streaming stations built in as well. But it would not work consistently over wireless and it constantly dumped out on the Roku app. If you go to the Amazon website and look at the product reviews there, you will see a number of people note this issue. I went back to just using my OTA antenna and a few streaming services. Roku TVs allow live pause if you just need to step away for a bit. I found a digital OTA DVR for $30 on Amazon. It's a bit clunky, but it works well enough for the occasional live sports event that I want to record, which IMO, is the only reason to have a DVR any more, with the ability to "on Demand" so many shows via various apps. When, in 20 years, I'm in my 80's, and have to spend more time at home, I'll perhaps get YouTube TV or whatever they have then. Then, I can catch up on all of the wonderful TV I've "missed" in that 20 years. ![]() |

I think someone is financially invested in "Pay Big for TV". There are also certain types of people who love to pay for toilet paper when using a European rest room and then they also get to leave a tip. So much neater than having an ugly toilet paper dispenser hanging on the wall, right? Most channels have little to offer and as stated earlier, leave the TV off and live life until you can't. Then you can sit all day long and watch TV. To each their own. |

" I invite each of you to sit down in front of your own television set when your station goes on the air and stay there, for a day, without a book, without a magazine, without a newspaper, without a profit and loss sheet or a rating book to distract you. Keep your eyes glued to that set until the station signs off. I can assure you that what you will observe is a vast wasteland." TV has it's place. It can be a distraction, and a way to pass your time when you aren't feeling well or it is too hot/cold to be outside. But a way of life? Hardly. |

I have had an antenna in my attic and had approx 70 channels since 2016. We were away for a week and came back and 3 channels are DTV. Originally CBS, COZI and DABL. Anyone know what happened. Seems other stations are different also.

I’m not sure I understand your question. If you mean you are getting less stations, check for any issues with the antenna, coax and that the antenna is pointing in the same direction as before. All the channels I receive are DTV.

You also might try to rescan and see what happens. Channels sometimes change. |
