I think the metric of south of 44 is misleading. The turnpike plays a huge role in separating the championship and executive courses.

The 1 championship course south of 44 (southern oaks), is a great location if you live near Saw Grass Grove, BUT if you live anywhere on the other side of the turnpike, its a 30 to 45 minute drive (it’s a 20 minute ride from the turnpike bridge to Saw Grass Grove).

Same concept for the executive courses south of 44 - but in reverse. They are ALL, now, on the other side of the turnpike. So you’re looking at 30 minutes to the closest one.

If you live anywhere north of 44 (say between 466a and 44) - you’re probably 15 minutes to 2 of the 3 championships and 15 minutes from 3 executives. Probably similar math for the LSL area.

The math for the LSL area is not similar. You would be within 35 minutes of 12 Championship courses (10 of which are 27 holes) and approximately 35 Executives. And you wouldn’t have to worry about stumbling across a miniature golf course.

We love it here and plan to stay forever. Lots of new Championahip and “short putting and pitching golf” but very little executive golf planned for new Areas. There is no executive golf east of Morse/468 and South of Volusia all the way to the turnpike. The new Villages of St Catherine, Bradford, Chitty Chatty, Hawkins, Citrus Grove, Cason Hammock all have a 30 minute golf cart ride to the nearest executive course.

Approaching sunset it’s the wild Wild West on the executive courses. Last night at a friend’s house on the third hole on Bonita Pass we walked out back to see what was going on. There was no one on the tee so looking toward the green I saw a golf cart right by the green side bunker then I saw her. Single player and she was in the trap. Two swings later barely out of the bunker (no raking) then smacked a worm burner across the green. I quit watching for a few seconds and looked back and she was playing another ball from in front of the green. All totaled she had three balls on the green and a twosome came up to the tee and just decided to skip that hole . I counted eleven strokes and I didn’t see the tee shots! The sunset was spectacular and so was the Bourbon

Explain why it’s so awful.

Just a blanket statement you made with no facts?

Too long for you? Too close to the Turnpike? Don’t like the layout?

Please let those of us that do like it know what compelled that statement….

When the new turnpike bridge is completed you will have better connectivity

That strip of villages East of Morse is very narrow, with minimal space to build a golf course...

Yes, they only announced TWO new Exec courses, but that is for THIS year. There are an additional 3 more planned SO FAR...

And like the previous poster sad, once the bridge by Southern Oaks is finished, the courses West/South of 75 will be much closer....

Isn’t this article about Future of golf? Why would anybody comment about the future of golf then, are they worried about golf not making it. Someone said maybe TV could build more homes in place of golf courses, are they worried? They built more golf courses didn’t they? Golf is still hot in TV. A lot of snowbirds do come to play golf, where else can you play for free, not at at Disneyland. I said TV is a Disneyland for retirees. I’m not worried about golf not making it.

I have a better Ideas. Build more club houses and have community free travel to club houses and doctor appointments, shopping and airport travel, stop renting improve Quality life for seniors. A great deal of senior's needs is free transportation which you don't have.

What village did you purchase in?
Wait, you didn’t buy. Looked at all of your previous negative posts about TV.

I do live north of 44. Golf was important to my wife and I

I am within 5 minutes of 27 executive holes and 20 minutes of probably 45 more

i am within 20 minutes of 135 championship holes

It will improve south of 44, but the turnpike (even with the 2nd bridge) is a bag factor in access to golf.
