IMHO it looks like you slide it one way to get the golf cart out, and the other way to get the car out. With the retractable, you can get both out at the same time.

I do like the idea of ventilation in the summer, and being able to open the garage door to the house and the door to the lanai to get a breeze through the house in spring and fall.

Would love some comments from some folks who have the sliding garage screen.

Maybe 10 or so sliders for every retractable. Most would prefer the retractable but don't like the much higher cost.

It's the old saying, you get what you pay for. On a CYV with it's 12' door opening the sideway sliders that don't completely clear the door are about $800. The retractable with the screen housing exposed on the outside at the top of the garage door is about $1650 and with the housing hidden behind the door is about $2000.

We had a retractable garage screen installed, and in addition to the advantages listed here, you can also prop open the covering to the attic and let the cooler air push the hot air out the top of the house in the summer.

We have sliders because they were here when we bought. I've never seen the need to get the cart and car out at the same time! Would probably back into each other in our little driveway!

For us retractable was the only way to go. We recently had it installed on our CYV for $1499.00 and the housing fits flush with the garage door frame. Barlows Tri County Screens was the company, located in D North at the Market of Marion.

We also had the retractable screen installed on the front door by Michelle's. Between the two of them and having the lanai door open we have gotten some nice breezes through our house. Both are the semi private white.

We prefer the sliders because it allows you quick and easy access to the garage while working outside or watering plants, etc. With the full screen I assume you have to have your remote with you and open and close the entire screen each time you exit/enter, but since I have never had one perhaps there is a simpler way to do it. I have also seen fully retractible screens that do not seem to fit tightly and have wrinkles but perhaps thaey were exceptions. To each his own, but we love our sliders.

We had a screen overhead door installed to cool down the garage and to keep out pests. It works the same as any overhead garage door with remote controls.
