WhenI was on a Lifestyle visit, I left my trash out in a garbage can as I do back home to prevent animals from ripping up the bag.,They threw the garbage and the can in the truck.

That's funny. I'm surprised there was a garbage can at the premises. My story: I had two pots of flowers, one on each side of the driveway about 2.5 ft from the street. These pots had been there for several weeks. Sure enough one morning on trash day I looked out the window & noticed one of the pots missing! Didn't he notice that there was a matching pot on the other side? Oh well, was an old pot. Maybe he took it home for the wife.

Of course he didn't notice. If he did, both pots would have been gone.

Some people keep a trash can in the garage to store bags of trash until trash day. They should have told you not to put the trash out in the can!

The first thing they told us when we went to get our IDs and mailbox keys, etc., was NO trash cans at the curb, and if there were, the cans would be taken as trash.

The streets do look a little better without them; just my opinion.

I'm retired. What's a wheelbarrow?

It is not true for all areas that you cannot use trash cans. I know in my area they are permitted and I prefer to use one for trash that critters may get to. Also, IMHO a single black plastic trash can looks as good if not better than one or two trash bags, if you fairly promptly return the emptied can to you storage area. Before dispensing of the idea of using a trash can, I'd suggest that the homeowner check it out with WasteManagement to see if their area permits cans...

IMHO not having trash cans to deal with is for the convenience of the Trash Hauler. Also, not having the cans curb side continually and blowing down the street when a wind comes along might be a secondary reason. In my neighborhood, I have seen everything from refrigerators to old wheelbarrows on the curb and gone before the Trash Hauler comes. No disrespect to the OP.

The driveway is only about 15 feet long on patio and courtyard villas.

I agree that blowing trash cans is a problem. Not everyone is home to bring the cans in promptly; for instance, we never are.

Up north, we have cans blowing everywhere. They actually create traffic hazards as they're rolling from one side of the street to the other . The trash hauling trucks are set up to lift the cans mechanically and dump them into the truck. Don't know if that's the case with TV trucks. I haven't noticed any trash cans south of 466, but I haven't looked for any, either!

We just do what they told us to do when we arrived.

What area do you live in that trash cans are allowed? I am in Glenbrook and they are not allowed here. I have never seen trash cans by the curb for trash pickup anywhere - but I have not been to every corner of The Villages.
