Default Boy - some storm tonight!

We had a rough ride home around 5pm from the movies in Lake Sumter (Jersey Boys, loved it) dodging flooded golf cart paths and seeing flooded Virginia and Allamanda courses. What a storm. We could hear the rain and thunder while movie was playing and when we got home my patio furniture, which is really heavy, was rearranged by heavy winds, jasmine climbing up a metal trellis knocked over and bent trellis. Neighbors (Pennecamp) said we had very heavy winds and hail.

Amazing. I'm about four miles from LSL and we only got a brief shower.

Yes, this was an awful storm. One of our trees was blown down.

This torrential rain only confirms what I already know:
Most lots in TV were not filled enough to provide drainage into the swails. Most of them are also poorly graded.

I remember three, no maybe four years ago we got seven inches of rain in 24 hours and there was ONLY some standing water in the road in either Caroline or Marllory, but everyone else commented on how well the carryoff systems here work. The sprinklers come on in all of the common areas when the water in the retention ponds rise, to keep them from overflowing.

I really am just a huge fan, kids. I don't have to sell this place, there aren't enough lots to go around and people are standing in line. I just have to say that I think the opposite is true. If the grading isn't right, which was the case in our neighborhood, "they" came back and put in a French drain, and regraded. It happened to two lots in our not quite three year old village.

I really don't mean to start an argument, but that is my opinion. Happinow had some grading issues I remember. The mostly sand base here usually wicks away water in an hour after a gully washer.

Default 4" recorded by rain gage

A neighbor down the road in Sanibel measured 4"! That's a lot of rain in a short amount of time. As Gracie mentioned, we did have a huge drainage problem but that was remedied....thank goodness!! Some lots don't drain as well as others but all in all the drainage here is pretty good.

It does not a lot longer with some lots to drain. They did do a very good job of planning for these rainy seasons in Central Florida.

Yep, left lots of standing water, but it went away pretty quickly.
