Anyone have a solution for keeping them out? They can get in the tiniest of openings. I have tried a spray called Toodaloo which they didn't like but now they seem to have gotten used to :it. I don't want to kill them but also don't want them to consider our Lanai their home.
When we built in the country in Texas we had a couple Tarantulas that got in our house. Thought it would be cool to have one on a board so I caught it. Since I cannot directly kill anything I put it in an ice cream bucket thinking it would just die. A MONTH later I felt bad for it so I gave it a cricket.....after that learned they can live for 6 weeks without food!!! The Anoles are fun to watch and at least are harmless.

Other than insects, what do they hurt?

Spray wd40 along inside frame & outside. The screen door has a indention in the middle on the top & bottom. I plugged that so they can’t slide in there & slide into your alarm. WD40 is great for maintaining your keyholes & hinges & etc. They don’t get rusty. Also they say wiping your screens with WD40 help keep bugs & spiders away. I also recaulked all around the floor, ceiling & any cracks in the metal. Keep checking for small little holes. We were renting a villa before we made our final move & a snake got in and was crawling along the floor. We found the hole & caulked it. Those creatures can climb & do whatever outside of my home. Put that tape down with one side sticky. That will catch them.

Encourage some black snakes to live in your yard. Or invite them inside. Maybe a pet ferret would like to eat them?

Those little lizards are great for bug control. They even eat crawley worms who enter the lani after rains.
Live with them.

Only a minor problem if you handle them (and primarily in the Green variety, not the Brown variety which are much more prevalent in FL)...

My lanai is windowed and there are big cracks both above the windows and in the sils on bottom of the windows where all kinds of critters get in! Wasps and Cuban roads are most shocking! You have to fill all those openings! I use bubble wrap and it doesn’t seem to affect the rain drainage at all but sure helps keep the critters out! Baby snakes will get in as well as tons of geckos coming through that rain drainage holes to the outside! Look too and bottom of each window and plug up the holes! The company is supposed to put rubber blocks in the holes on the top of the windows but many were not done on mine! The ones with the rubber stoppers don’t allow any bugs in!
The installers don’t seem to know or care about critter invasion! If you have a cat or dog do not let poisonous Cuban tree frogs get inside as they can be deadly but certainly will poison a pet. Happened to my cat and she survived the misery.
