I would think there are going to be a ton of tailgating through the gate. One cart goes and the other follows close behind so that the gate doesn't close....if you time it in the right time of day people will be still getting in/out without being a resident or just not having their card on them.

There was never really a problem, (well maybe in the developers mind) so there can't be a solution

I don't think that they are talking about a gate pass. I think it will require your Villager ID card.

Funny, some people say that there are hardly any people from outside the Villages coming through that gate. If that's the case how can there be a "ton" of tailgaters.

that was my thought! does anyone think that golf carters from spruce creek south or stonecrest are gonna drive to the gate and just hang out waiting for a tag onto a villager cart for access so they can come in and ride our multi-modal paths or use other amenities after hours?

it's all silly to me - but it does prevent anyone from fruitland park pointing a finger and claiming that other 'outsiders' have golf cart access' to the villages.

Bingo! I think that must have been the reasoning all along.

As a former resident of a development next door, Villages of lakeside Landing, and the owner of a streetlegal LSV, and now a resident of The Villages, I really don't understand the reluctance to allow "outsiders" access. I drove down Rainey Trail and entered at Bonnybrook every day for over 5 years. Did I use TV cart paths? Yep. But I also spent thousands upon thousands of dollars each year at the country club golf courses, merchants throughout TV and restaurants. I was there during the very slow summer months helping to keep the businesses going. Decided I wanted more convenience so I bought. Win/Win in my eyes.

The more visitors the better----just not by golf cart unless it's Street Legal. This is the wishes of the Developer of TV. "so let it be written, so let it be done".

The obvious can be inconspicuous at times and I think this is one of those times. I have to say I am impressed with your power of reason.
