Do you think a golf cart passing 3 other carts is doing slightly more than 20 mph-have seen this often on St Charles & Bailey Tr.

Some people have a hard time retiring. Passing someone is just a macho display of their shortcomings. Just smile and find joy in the fact that you are more mature than hot rod Henry or Henrietta.

Doesn't bother me a bit. Perhaps they are in a hurry to use the facilities.

Sometimes people go around. Sometimes it is some kind of one upmanship and sometimes maybe they have to pee. I am not the slowest and I am not the fastest. Well sometimes I am. I am always early, I always plan to be a little early, because that is being a good person.
Don't ask.

On another note, If someone is going 10mph, I will pass them if it is legal and safe to do so. Steve |

To me, being passed by a faster golf cart is about as traumatic as being passed by a faster car on the interstate or SR 466. From what I read, it seems that cart accidents are usually the result of impaired drivers, careless driving (hitting curbs, trees, etc.), failure to heed stop signs, and inappropriate turn actions.

It could them over $800 in fines, plus it could cost upto $500 to have their carts set back to 19.5MPH, not to mention court costs. Don't think it happens? Ask around, you'd be surprised.

Once you're passing someone on a golf cart lane that's part of a road (like Morse up north), you're in the regular vehicular traffic lane. So as long as you're not going over the posted speed limit for vehicular traffic there, AND you're not holding up vehicular traffic to do so, I guess it'd be okay to pass a few golf carts.
But if you're on a golf cart path or MMP, you're not allowed to go faster than 19.x mph (whatever that number is). My suggestion to all the slower drivers: if you are going under 17mph and see someone coming up behind you that looks like they'd really like to just not be behind you - slow down a little more, pull to the right if possible, and LET them pass you. Consider - you're clearly not in a rush anyway, so it won't kill you to just slow down another MPH. When I was using a rental golf cart I ran into this often. My cart couldn't go more than 17. It was set that way, and was annoying because it was very obvious to me that every cart behind me, could go faster, and would if I was just out of their way. So I would always pull over a little as soon as I was in a spot where it was possible, and slow down, and signal to the people behind me to pass. |

Hm true - registered vehicles only on those roads. However there are roads where there are no designated golf cart lanes, where golf carts are allowed to be. Such as the roads within the neighborhoods themselves where cars can pass golf carts, no? 20mph or 25mph speed limit means a vehicle is allowed to go that fast. If a golf cart is only going 16mph, and another golf cart wants to go 19mph, and there is no designated golf cart path, then it stands to reason that the faster golf cart should be allowed to pass the slower one.
Having never driving through every single neighborhood in every single village of the villages, I don't know if there are different speed limits for different villages. I know I have seen a 10mph sign in one villa neighborhood. |

It doesn't matter where the golf cart is ruuning.......19.9 is the max speed to be legal. Doesn't matter if you are on a public road or on private property (MMS) or on the moon.......19.9 is max. |
