I think those that have the golf course lots will tell you they are great, and those that dont may poopoo them.

We are on a tee box of one of the palmer courses. We have NEVER had a golf ball in our yard. We sit back a little. We can look across the tee box of the par 5 and watch the people play back on the par 3.

I would not want to be in the way of errant golf balls. We just lucked out in our location (being hit by balls was not something we even considered when we bought) . Our neighbor on the one side had lived on Lopez and specifically picked his lot at the tee box.

So a big for a golf course lot that will not be in the strike zone of golf balls. We would not trade ours for anything. We also have a water view, but realize that just because you have water in the pond one day does not mean you will always have water in the drought times.

Just one opinion ... having a golf course view is absolutely, totally worth paying the premium. It is the thing we enjoy most about our TV home.

Like many of the others here, if we had unlimited funds, we would want a golf-course view (out of range of hookers (I,too like Fumar apologize) like me and slicers like my wonderful husband. Given that we fell head over heels in love with the Bridgeport kitchen, we couldn't afford a golf course lot. That being said, we spent time looking on line and in TV and were very lucky to find a homesite with a small lot premium that backs up to a courtyard wall with a small view of Kenya to the side. We can't wait to get there.

Russ, skill has nothing to do with it, learn how to cry a lot! Sobbing is helpful, I can give you lessons. Good luck to you! Hurry down here, the weather is great!!

Having lived in one house that was much too close to the neighbors in back,
we longed for a house with open space in back. So we moved to a golf course lot in the Chicago suburbs. But we made a mistake and were only 220 yds off the tee. We were pelted with golf balls. When we moved to TV, we did a lot of research and looking, still wanting the open space. We found a great lot in Hadley about 320 yds off the tee with a great view. Haven't seen a ball near us yet. We plan on using the lanai a ton, so the view is important to us. As has been said earlier, it's all up to each person's individual taste, but the plan is for this to be our last house, so we think it's worth the money.

We bought on a golf course; near a tee. Wife wanted this house and I wanted to save the money and get an inside lot. She was right! It 's more entertainment than I every could have imagined - it's a new episode very 8 minutes.

I think it depends on personal taste. We would have loved the view, but the extra $100-$150,000 put us off. I value privacy above everything else, and didn't want to be watching people driving by all day and listening to the golf carts and mowing machines. As someone else mentioned, if you're close to a cart path you have people peering into your lanai and house all the time too. Not for me. We decided to take the money we would have spent on the view, and use it to take fabulous vacations, which we are doing. To be honest, we're on the go so much in The Villages, that I rarely sit on my lanai anyways, other than to entertain once a week, so for us an interior lot was the best decision. We landscaped it for privacy and its a little oasis out there.

Default Try a golf course "peek"

When we were looking at new homesites, being on a golf course was not a high priority. Having visited friends who were on courses, we didn't see any plusses with getting pelted with errant shots and having people searching for lost balls in our yard. We settled on a golf course "peek" lot on the Roosevelt course in Hemingway. We can see golfers but are out of their line of fire and the view is definitely worth the extra $$.

I think that in some of the resale homes, the value placed on a golf front lot is $40,000 up. As I said in a previous post on this thread, we love our golf front home location.

Now from a womans perspective, I do love the view, and the fact that we can sit on our lanai and be entertained with many four/fore letter words that I have never even heard of ! But, if you relish your privacy, its sadly lacking in that department

You have to always make sure your fully clothed when letting the dogs out and if your very vain, your hair cant be a mess and makeup must be on. Because the golfers do stare at you and sometimes even talk to you and if your not looking your best , you WILL be embarrassed. I am slowly learning to put modesty aside for the dogs, cause when they gotta go, they gotta go.

Nonie
I read your comment and concern but how does that stack up to the Belly Dance lesson(s) you had on your back lanai or did they stop because your group was a distraction to the golfers!!!!

Yesterday I was playing at Havana. Walking down 1 fairway we noticed a large "KEEP OUT" sign in a backyard of a designer right on the fairway. When we looked closer there were 2 broken windows, clearly from errant golf shots, in the back of the home. I would venture a guess these folks regret their "on the course" purchase.

Personally, a golf course view is about the last thing I would wish for. I hear enough ******** and complaining when I'm playing golf (much of it originating from me), and I really don't want to hear it when I'm relaxing in my lanai. Secondly, my best friend (a beagle named Bob) would never stop howling as long as he could see people moving around, which is the reason why we will need the privacy wall in a courtyard villa when we decide to retire. And thirdly, last year we visited a very nice gated mobile home community in the Winter Haven area, and noticed that every home on the golf course within 200 yards of the tee boxes had a metal screen between the home and the tee. Not my idea of a relaxing place to live. But to each his own - people wouldn't be very interesting if we were all alike.
