Default Good for district 8

I commend the residents of district 8 going against the district 8 supervisors on the subject of side lines on the golf cart path. Yep it is a waste of money. If you have that much left over at the end of the year then reduce the the amenity fee. You just had some left over and wanted to waste it on something. I've seen that many times over the years. You were afraid it would be taken away. I hope the residents remember who the supervisors were that wanted to waste their money. To all other districts listen and learn.

I live in District 8 and have been sending emails to our officials on this ridiculous waste of our money. I will certainly remember next election on those "3" who want to just flush money for no reason. Go run for congress if you want to do that.

Amenity fees cannot/will not be reduced. The extra money is a surplus and is invested. Currently millions are invested.

That's right and no seat belts in golf carts either, being ejected from a moving vehicle is everyone's right ,and side striping multi-modal paths so drivers can see the edge of the road at night is a stupid idea, why would anyone want to stay on the same path as someone that is blinding you with non D.O.T. LED headlights when you can just close your eyes and crash!I think this engineer in an earlier life might have been Casey Jones.

Just to clear up a common misconsecption, the money for District 8 striping would not come from the amenity fees. The cost would be part of District 8's budget and would calcualed as part of the bond maintenance fees payed each year. The only amenity fees would be used for the MMP controlled by the AAC and this portion of the paths are not in District 8.

If you are going to be against something at least get your facts correct.

Thumbs down Waste of money!

Side-striping is a wasted expense and an ongoing maintenance headache. I wonder if the advocates for it would agree to putting 20mph governors on every golf cart and large fines for those exceeding the limit? Many of the gas-powered carts have been "modified" to go 25-30mpg--which is more dangerous? Plus, how many carts have inadequate exterior lights? Hmm, how do side-stripes address these more important safety issues?

Like helmets for motorcyclists and bicycle riders, seat belts in golf carts are not legally mandated. It's about personal responsibility.

The mmp is only 1 mile long in district 8.It was a test. The concrete borders were put there for a reason,so people could see the edge of the path so they don't run over the plants we pay for.

Do you mean illegal headlights, that blind oncoming carts and cars on both multi modal and Sumter co. roadways are O.K.,I am wondering where Sheriff Farmer is weighing on this or is he just stepping back like he did with the seat belt issue?

Sort of. It's about every single person's responsibility. Which has been proven time and again does not occur. So somebody loses.

Default don't stripe multi modal paths

Put signs up identifying the villages that don't have signs''.
We live in Buttonwood, one of the biggest villages, and we don;t have a sign which identifies our villages on St Charles. Buttonwood is on both sides of St. Charles and people have trouble finding us. Even residents of Buttonwood can pass by Buttonwood Run after dark, I don't believe Pennecamp has one either.
No ATM at our mail station, no signage, Starting to feel like the Red headed step child.
