I have had steaks at the various Villages' country clubs and they were good but nothing special. Cattle Baron's was better if memory serves.

Some of the country club burgers were quite good.

Yes, they do, $38 per pound for a filet. Not my favorite store, though.

We mainly get ours at Sam's Club. As long as you pick through them a little to find the steaks with the best marbling, we end up with an excellent steak every time.

Just as an FYI, there's a reason so many people are mentioning buying steaks from a market. I'm guessing, like me, they are all disappointed with restaurant steaks considering the price. I can make a choice strip steak at $10-$12/lb better than most steakhouses that may have aged prime. You go to the steakhouse for the ambiance and overpriced steaks.

This here is how you make a steak...

They say, "The USDA grade of beef depends on really just one factor: marbling." And, they say that their steaks have "exceptional" marbling. So, if that is the case, why don't their steaks have a USDA Prime grade?

Regarding the Kansas City Steaks, they are pricey. They charge $120 per pound for USDA Prime filet mignon, as compared to $35 per pound at Publix. I have never been disappointed with the Publix steaks. You can definitely tell the difference in tenderness between USDA Prime vs USDA Choice.
If you base your steaks on price then you are correct......both Omaha and KC Steaks are overpriced. We base our steaks on taste and continue to buy from Omaha a couple times a year. We also buy from Publix for the convienence. But back to the OP...... if you are looking for some atmosphere we suggest Chop House or Lopez. Outside our go to is Berns in Tampa but it's a process and challenge to get into the place.

Agreed that there's no need to overpay for steaks to be shipped to your home. The game changer for us was first learning how to pick out a good steak based on how the marbling looks and second learning how to properly sear and cook a steak so that it tastes very similar to a high end steakhouse. We started with simple but foolproof techniques that Anthony Bourdain has mentioned several times (easy to Google). Basically searing each side, cooking under indirect heat for a duration based on desired doneness, and then let the steak rest (absolutely mandatory), covered in aluminum foil and optionally do the "restaurant trick" and rub some butter or garlic butter on the finished steak before resting.

Unfortunately there are no good steaks in The Villages. If you want a good steak, you’ll have to visit Orlando or Tampa/St Pete. The drive is an hour plus, but worth it to get a good meal occasionally.

The Villages can certainly support a fine steakhouse, it just has t happened yet. Many think Chop House is good, it isn’t. It’s just better than Sizzler, which many believe to serve good steaks…

I have had a good steak at Prima in Brownwood Sq. The only problem is they have a limited 3 steak menu. I ordered a NY strip topped with melted gorgonzola medium rare and it was perfect.

I'll just point out that Walmart has a (very) limited selection of USDA Prime steaks these days. Also, even though I've looked, I have never found prime at Publix - only choice. In any case, it is wasted on me having grown up in rural Arkansas. At least I've stopped cooking mine well-done. :-)

I noticed that no one mentioned the "Local Butcher" in The Market at Sawgrass. I've never shopped there, but they might have what you're looking for.

I'll add to the original question - for health reasons we only eat grass-fed beef; any suggestions for this, either in restaurants or groceries? So far, we've found some at Publix and at WalMart.
