My thoughts and prayers are with you both.
I would like to share a smart ass remark I made when I fought cancer. I was getting daily heavy radiation and biweekly massive chemotherapy. Soon I was unable to eat or drink and had to have a feeding tube through my belly into my stomach. Liquid diet poured into my tube. One day when I arrived for my daily radiation treatment, the nurse came in while I was changing and noticed the plastic tube taped to my shoulder and running down and into my belly. She, in a soft and caring voice asked how I was feeling. I, feeling like crap but refusing to make that my answer opted for, "I feel like one of the Borg with this tube sticking out of me" and I grinned at her. Several odd looks ran across her face until she understood I was referring to a member of a collective group of Star Trek characters. She broke out laughing. The more she tried to stifle the laugh the harder the laughter came. She left the room. My doctor came in with two attendants and radiation tech and asked " what did you say to Sandy (can't remember her real name)."
Laughter didn't cure my cancer, but it helped me struggle through. Find something to laugh about everyday.

May you and Doug have love and laughter every day of your lives.

I am sorry that your husband is so very sick. When my husband was in the hospital recently my 20 something granddaughter came to stay with me for a week. One day I had the misfortune to have gas and I thought she was going to fall over laughing. She, too, thought it was just a guy thing.

Hello, again, jebartle,

I remembered when you told us about your beloved husband’s diagnosis. I have been alongside two people I love very much — as they have fought the battle.

Please know that even though I am just a poster on a forum out here in cyberspace, I care about what the two of you are going through. I understand — all too well.

Thank you for sharing a light moment of laughter with us. I am sure there will be more for you and your husband. We treasure good laughter — always — but we treasure it even more in hard times with those we love best. Laughter is a gift.

I am thinking of you and yours and sending kind wishes your way.

Sincerely,
Boomer

PS: You are right about the farts. It’s definitely a “guy thing.” My book club and my lunches with friends never involve farts. But we sure do love those guys. And we gotta laugh.

I was on TOTV every night in the months before we moved here in 2008 enjoying the anticipation and informing myself of resources that will be needed. The forum was a delightful experience - informative and much humor. I recall very few negative or snarky responses. Thanks Boomer for this reminder of a great bygone era.

“The Big Guy” has always been known to fart in public and it didn’t work out too well for him before his audience with the Pope

Crude, childish and gross.

I imagine this thread is about to be closed, but before it goes I would like to state that there is nothing classless or ignorant about passing gas in public, it is, unfortunately, a natural bodily process over which we have very little control unless you have a "tight arse", and from reading this thread there appears to be many on TOTV that do indeed have a tight arse!

Mrs Doug, my thoughts are with you and your husband during this time. I "got out of the house" this week to have lunch at Bonefish with three wonderful women, all of us are caretakers for four incredible men.

You missed the point of classless.
