A grocery store clerk, truck driver, bus driver, waiter, car wash attendant and almost ever normally employed person are far more important than actors and athletes.
I find it funny that some people are so dull witted that their idols are actors and athletes rather than real heroes and real statesmen. |

People shopping need to do their part. Was in Publix by Mulberry Saturday and I'd say less than 20% of the customers were wearing masks. Many of those that did wear gloves left them on the ground or in the cart for employees to clean up after them. Maybe a one-way trashcan at the exit doors and some signage would help. But, likewise, none of the staff I saw were wearing masks or maintaining social distancing. Management's failure. To management's defense, they had drawn lines on the floor and installed sneeze barriers in front to cashier Didn't notice about gloves.

Not everyone can wear a mask and work. People taking in carts are out in the 80+ degree ridiculous humidity, keeping a pretty safe distance from other people. Covering their noses and mouths in those conditions could make it incredibly difficult to breathe.
I wear glasses. I did an experiment and tried weeding my garden the other day while wearing a mask. When I weed I'm also wearing gloves (industrial nitrile gloves, thicker than surgical gloves, not as thick as gardening gloves and 100% more flexible and form-fitting). The breath coming out of my nose was fogging the glasses up, which made me have to take the gloves off, then take the glasses off, clean them, put the glasses back on, wipe the hair away from my eyes (which fall into my eyes when I take my glasses off), put the glasses back on, and re-adjust the mask, which at this point is either IN my eyes, or has slipped down to my nostrils. Imagine having to do that for a 6-hour shift. Not gonna happen. If I were a cashier or pharmacy tech, it would be pretty easy to maintain wearing a mask, and I'd probably do that. But as a grocery clerk who is constantly bending over and climbing and lifting boxes and being jostled by product - or a cart person who spends a lot of time outside in the sweltering sweat-creating heat, or a carriage-cleaner, who is moving VERY fast in a very hot vestibule and also being very sweaty, all the time - it's just not practical. |

God forbid we should be inconvenienced to keep someone else from getting sick while they serve us

I hear a lot about grocery stores because they are definitely a necessity. What does everyone think of the hardware stores. They are supplying us with paint, sprinkler parts, nuts and bolts, plants, mulch, and the items we want for projects because we are housebound. I think the items we get from there are a necessity for mental health and home safety. Thanks to those people on the front line too.
