I just started a new thread with the following:
I just finished talking on the phone to a representative at the Florida Department of Health to clarify the statement.... "...Florida Department of Health has taken over the GMR list..." The only list the FL Dept of Health has taken over is the appointment list and resulting second appointment list. They have not taken over the "registration" list which is the waiting list to get an appointment. The representative said they do not know what GMR/saferestart future intentions are. Another non reassuring notification of status. So for those of us not participating in the "appointment roll of the dice game"..... we wait.....not knowing what to expect. |

I decided to get proactive.
Every morning I check out click orlando for the latest. I've registered with several telephone numbers so far. This morning they said Orange County would be taking appointments starting at 8:00 and gave the portal site. I was ready, and probably lucky. I'll get my first shot Monday in Orlando. |

Disagree. You must have a lousy doctor. My previous doc was 100% familiar with my condition and was on top of my requirements. A healthy 65 year old vs someone with outstanding medical issues should be prioritized in my opinion.

You can disagree with the CDC and the governor's priority system for providing the vaccine. But, allowing any doctor to approve the vaccine to whoever they want would be an invitation for unequal treatment and fraud. There are many doctors who will approve almost any type of drug or treatment to patients. For example, before the Government tightened the laws on painkillers, there were licensed doctors prescribing thousands of pain pills to individual patients and operating pain clinics throughout the country for profit. It just wouldn't be a fair system. My opinion.

So, at least now I am pre-registered. That means I am in line to get notified to get online and attempt to get in line at Sumter County’ COVID Event registration event website to try to obtain an appointment so I can drive somewhere in a 75-mile radius and get in line to receive my 1st shot. So, I got that goin’ for me.... |

I received the first "code" from Safe Restart on 1/12, along with notice a couple days later that it's all on hold except for those scheduled for the second shot due to a shortage of the vaccine. Nothing of substance since then, except for our governor saying on TV that supply is the problem. I am concerned that since he was such an ardent supporter of our ex-president, we in Florida (especially Sumter County) are possibly being "punished" by the new team. Guess nothing is impossible considering the current state of unrest in this country. I am not accusing, just wondering what / why such indecision is in play at this critical time. Let's hope it's not political retribution!
