We have been coming down every six months for the last three years to work on the house as well as to have small getaway vacations.
This is the first time going to sleep in our bed that I have heard trucks driving by on the highway. I don't hear engines, but tires make the noise. And I was surprised at night for the first time that we heard as much as we did without the windows open. So, from my single observation, the changes in the economy with shipping congestion reduced, etc, has definitely changed the volumne of traffic, as well as any potential reflection of the noise from the meggison road walls, reflecting the noise back over the road. just an interesting observation, not that this is a game changer, but just to acknowledge that truck noise has definitely changed in the last year from the last several years. sportsguy |

Is this from the turnpike?
As traffic increases as they build a third lane cannot imagine noise not getting worse. Grew up under a JFK flight path and sure got tired of that noise real quick. |

I really like Marsch Bend a whole lot and so does my wife. I was ready to go there many moons ago but she declined. I even said I'm going to miss you and that doesn't work anymore. ![]() |

Wind direction will definitely affect noise from a roadway. At our last home in Tennessee we lived about a half a mile south of an interstate highway. Only time we heard the noise from it was when the wind came out of the north and it was quite noticeable when outside.

Hey Sportsguy...This is interesting as we are looking around for a new house and are trying to learn the sound patterns from both the turnpike and Meggison. What street are you located? I have actually been going around and listening at different times and wind directions in both Deluna and St Johns where we are looking at houses.
The link below shows the historical wind patterns from a local weather station. It appears that the wind direction is about equal from east or west over the course of a year. I have seen sites that say the prevailing wind in central FL is from the SW but this interactive chart seems to show that the NE is more prevalent. It's 4am and the Leesburg airport wx station is showing a 5mph wind from the NE. I am going grab some coffee and go check things out. Yes, I'll put on my hearing aids and no I don't have anything better to do right now. lol Prevailing historical winds |

Here in UK our daughter lives about half to three quarters of a mile from a busy road, and most of time cannot hear traffic.
When prevailing wind moves it can be quite loud, and even louder when roads are wet. |

Sure is quite in Spruce Creek South. But then you can’t use the status of “I live in the Villages”!!
