This thread is NOT to talk about which Internet service is the cheapeast. I believe that discussion has been heavily discussed.

I know of one such installation at a friends home in Middleton.
I have ubiquity business class router and wifi access point in the ceiling. I don't use their cloud network management system, but I use their local nms on my laptop. Same as at home here in MA

Sorry to hear this but you are not alone. I'm totally shocked how many people who I sign-up for Quantum Fiber here in the Villages have extreemly poor wifi passwords that the hackers always try first and have no or very outdated security software on their computers.

Anyway, looks like the fire stick guy is helping you which is great but if you need any additional help please reach out to me as well.

If home wifi systems are barely strong enough to extend through the house, where is this hacker that is breaking in using the wifi password physically located, in his garage?

Now, if what he is really asking for is someone to help change the router password...

Good point! Maybe the OP can give us more information so we can all learn from what happened?

After 8pm is the highest usage time period so with cable internet you and everyone else will slow down. Those who pay for higher mega bits will probably not notice it. You need something from 300MB or higher.

To get better coverage throughout your house invest in a Mesh Router. I have a three unit Mesh and can get coverage anywhere in my house and even out in my yard. They work really well.

Default Urgent Router Help Please?

Spectrum, or any other isp, has nothing to do with your WiFi, that’s totally on you, they have nothing to do with your internal network. Most of the isp providers give you 1 modem/router and that’s it, which is insufficient for total coverage. For example, I have a 4 mesh router network in my house so I can totally automate every area in and around my house. If I go into a bedroom, I still get up to 800Mb speeds, I can go out in the garage and get the same speed, or on my lanai. This is due to using the backhaul of the newer 6e and above mesh networks and in some cases, hardwired connections to each router. In most rooms I have a switch connected to the router so all my devices in these rooms think they are hardwired which is much faster than when the device would use the 2.4ghz WiFi. I just designed a whole house network for a friend of mine and he is using more routers to get the coverage he needs.
$75 for 1Gb internet is expensive, I’ve been paying $39 for 1.2Gb.
1 other question that comes up regularly, fiber isp or xfinity/spectrum? Always go with fiber, it will always be a cleaner sounding connection, faster speeds especially upload speed, and much more reliable. When you pay for 1Gb speed, you will get 1Gb download speed as well as 1Gb upload speed, compared to any copper network like xfinity/spectrum where for 1Gb download speed, you’ll get 20-40Mb upload,iAd speeds, which is a joke.
My second day in The Villages I was hacked....I've replaced my laptop and phone but I'm told the hackers have my ISP address...Spectrum tells me to change the password on my router or get a new one to solve that issue...would you be kind enough to help me?
