After moving here, I was surprised the Rec Center pools don't provide umbrellas. Has that always been the case or was there an issue/incident which resulted in umbrellas not being provided?
Not to take air out of my own question, however, I'm sure the expense of providing and replacing umbrellas for all these pools would be enormous. Just curious if anyone knew any other reason. |

When not in the water, I don’t care to lay in the direct sun, and sometimes looking for a covered area at the pool can be a challenge.

Umbrellas become projectiles in the wind. It’s hard enough to get recreation center employees to check ID’s, I’m pretty sure they don’t want the additional task of monitoring wind conditions and correspondingly removing and replacing umbrellas. They sell umbrellas that clip on to chairs, you could bring your own with you.

with some pools the area is small & fills up quickly- i can see op's point, but umbrellas in any kind of wind storm are very dangerous, imo

Had umbrellas at our Midwest community pool and no one would put them down at the end of the day even after repeated reminders, etc. As others said, it would add more work for the community folks on a day like Monday.

These are all "resort style" pools. Umbrellas must not be something a resort would have. Curious how they define "resort".

During most of the day there are always shady spots you can use without umbrellas. The adult pools seem to have a lot of shade areas.

They should always use accurate descriptions throughout their work life. When they embellish to the point where they publish false information, they may fool the newbies, but they insult everyone who knows the real truth. Since they have a history of spinning things with inaccurate information, whenever they put out information, it becomes a question of what really is the truth, and much is a make up exaggerated lie again. Anyone that blindly believes everything they say is simply being deceived. Apparently even calling them "swimming pools" would trigger the "you cannot swim in an adult pool" arguments. |

In place of umbrellas, there are different levels of shade in the lattice panels above the sitting areas. You can be in, light shade, or almost full shade if you choose. I commend them for those options.
