Default Hot stuff!

I see by looking at the bottom of the TOTV page that the temp down there is 95 with a heat index of 102 today!!

That being the case - and as a future frog - what do you frogs DO when it's that hot??! Get everything done early in the AM and hibernate in the middle of the day? Stay in the AC? What IS there to do inside in the middle of the day when it's that hot? Am I wrong to think that this is fairly typical for you in the summer? I mean, it gets muggy here (Michigan) in the summer but not nearly THAT hot (usually). Should we plan on vegging at the pool every afternoon (not that I'm complaining but even that might get repetitive....)

What are your favorite hot day activites in TV?

It is 88 in West Chester, Ohio today(FEELS LIKE AN OVEN) and the river valley humidity feels like 180%. I know that we will do there what we do here; Get the chores and golf done early and late and stay where it's cool the rest of the time. I thought I would try to get some of you great gals together to play cards or talk about what you had read lately and just hang out inside when it's really hot there.

Cards? Girl talk? I'm game!

But, tee hee GG, you call 88 hot? You call Ohio humid? It'll be in the 90s all week in Hotlanta and it feels like a sauna on steroids. Still, it's not as bad as...
Hey N'awlins, wipe that sweat of you're brow and join in the conversation. Ya there?

88 indeed!

Hi PT...94 today with a heat index of 105!
I tolerate the heat well if I'm sippin' on a mint julep under a grand ole' oak tree! Too bad I didn't have time for that today!
With the house on the market for two weeks now I've been in a whirlwind. Sunday is Open House and it'll be another scorcher...I'll be sure to make time to chill out then!

There are lots of activities in the Rec Centers in the middle of the day . . . in the cool air conditioning!

N'awlins,
One of these days when we're both in TV, we'll have to grab some Southern friends -- hello, Mint Julip, ya there? Pat? Mrs. Army Guy?-- and have us some sippin's.

Believe it or not I am usually golfing in the 10 - 3 time frame. I do not see much difference in the temps as compared to what I was used to golfing in up north during the summer. After 11am the rates on the Championship courses drop and it is usually not as crowded as the am times. Of course once I get home I head right out back into the pool.

I am impressed by those of you that can enjoy the outdoors in this heat. You are all so INSPIRING! I LOVE being outside so I'm hoping to pick up a few heat enjoyment pointers from you all.

J&M a body adapts. If you hang out in AC particularly cold AC you will have a hard time in the Florida heat. But if you work and play outside you will get use to it. We do everything in the summer that we did in the winter. We are carfull to drink lots of water and opt for shade. It's kind of windy in this part of Florida and that makes if more comfortable too.

To us most indoor facilities are down right cold, need to wear a jacket inside.

It wasn't all that long ago that there was no AC. People survived just fine.

Everybody adapts in one way or another. After a couple of summers trying to play golf in the heat, I decided I just wasn't going to....it's too hot outside for me. There's lots to do indoors, either shopping, playing billiards, going to the movies, visiting with friends, etc. It was hotter but less humid in CA where we lived, and I found things to do that didn't have to be done outdoors in the heat, though there are many more things to do here! I must say that each summer the heat feels more tolerable, but not enough for me to play outside for long. Others don't seem to be bothered at all. There is never a shortage of things to do around here, outside or inside, you'll either play outside or inside, but you won't be bored....and there is no snow to shovel....well, not usually.. ....we did get a dusting this winter (actually more ice than snow, but still, it was white and for a girl from CA, it was a treat, a cold one, but still a treat....The Villages Florida
