Default Round Abouts?

You want to talk round abouts. Here is the Quezon Memorial Circle in Manila. It is a mile and a quarter in circumference and is nine, that's 9 lanes wide in some places. It goes down to about three or four lanes and some of the lanes just exit on to surrounding roads.

Add to that thousands of Filipino cab drivers that don't know how to drive, busses and huge trucks.

I'll never complain about our round abouts after driving there for a year.

I find the one in Paris more challenging that goes around the Arc De Triomphe. If I recall it has 5 or 6 lanes and 12 exit and entrance possibilities. Have driven around that a few times in order to change lanes and get to where I wanted.

Last time I was there, (Makati vicinity) they made 6 lanes on a 3 lane road. Of course. no one was going anywhere....

The Manilla round about is certainly big, but the most interesting one I've ever been on is in Hemel Hemsptead, Hertfordshire, England. It consists of one large roundabout, surrounded by six mini-roundabouts - one for each of the six original junctions. And how does that work, you might ask? Basically, each mini-roundabout is treated just like a normal roundabout, with the main roundabout acting as a sort of distraction. The picture of it will give you a general idea. So whenever I get aggravated about how people drive the round abouts here in The Villages I just think of Hemel Hempstead.
