I was 58 when I came to The Villages, however, I was 48 when we moved to Florida. My husband retired early and I continued to work. Our children were 20 and 21and self sufficient. Our daughter eventually followed us down here at our coaxing. You always need to lure one of your kids down, otherwise, when you get old, they'll make you move back to the frigid north.

We were in the Sarasota /Bradenton area. It's where my husband's parents retired. Great fishing, great water activities in that area. 3 hurricane/tropical storms convinced us to move to Central Fl. We were from the Fenton, MI.

We were 55 and 60.
My father was 77, living here for 14 years when we bought. My children are just starting their families- lol or we would have more than 2 generations here. No, not like a cruise ship at all. We have only been here for 11 months- we are frogs now since we bought. I honestly think since this COVID, I saw my father more before COVID and moving here. It kinda strange to be so close but not see him more. |

We were in our early 60’s when we moved here after spending 10 years 1/2 a mile from the Gulf in the Clearwater-St. Pete area. The townhome community we lived in started to deteriorate as a result of the HOA’s poor management decisions. So, it was time to go even though we originally thought we’d croak there. Our children were in their 20’s when we retired to FL. We came to TV for the lifestyle and absolute beauty and cleanliness of this community. We also liked having an elected government running things and have tried to learn as much about it as we can. Finding a house we could afford and love, in addition to a FABULOUS group of neighbors, was the icing on the cake.

Thank you all for sharing your experiences. We look forward to visiting the TV soon, probably once more of the Covid restrictions are lifted.
