Default Hair Care

Sofia's Salon next to MMD Computer on 441 only charges $100 for cut and color. Excellent job and youthful cuts. Not your average old lady salon

Had the smokey eye. Cataract surgery took care of it.

To those who are in the planning stages of buying a house in TV and are coloring in a salon now, I hope you tip your current colorists well. Before you move, you need to get your formula and also the brand of the color used. (Some salons have a rule about giving the client the formula.)

I had to find a salon in TV that used Wella because that was the only brand my hair would grab. Even Goldwell would not work. If your gray/white is resistant, brand can matter.

I used to be in that chair every 4-5 weeks for retouch, highlights (followed by clear for shine) and cut. It was a couple hundred bucks plus tip.

I always said I would not go gently into letting my hair go natural.

Then came Covid and I was not going anywhere, so I grew out my real color. And I love it.

Had I known it was this color all the while that I was spending all that money and time covering it up, maybe I would have let it grow out sooner. . .But I seriously doubt it because it is not easy to put up with those roots if you have a social life. (I had thought about it before, but could never do it.)

Ironically, there was a young woman who saw me in the salon for a cut recently and then told my hairstylist she wanted the same color I have. My hair has different shades of silver and gray and white all through it. Can’t be bought.

I think that Covid cloud had a silver lining for some of us boomers. We are saving a lot of money and rocking our natural hair color.

Vanity, thy name is Boomer

Out of touch with reality?

You live in The Bubble and you have to ask that question?

It just learning how to section the scalp area, once it's applied it takes about 20 minutes of wait time.
To add a bit of flair once the waiting time is over you jump into the shower to wash it off with your husband. If you take my recommendation, he'll most likely want color your hair at least twice a week.
Amen. I tell my wife it looks BETTER when she does it from the box (her daughter helps her, or I have a few times). I don't get why she sometimes pays $180, but she is convinced it looks just a tiny bit better. Its all in her head. With the box, we can do it once a month instead of 6 weeks so the "blond" stays covered. If you do the box right like you discribe, no way to tell the difference.
Since she will never do the grey villages old lady bob cut(her husband will not allow it), she has to color forever.

Nothing wrong with telling each other what you like, and doing what makes the other happy. It has worked for me.

As a man I prefer lady barbers as they seem to put more effort into it. The men too often give a $5 cut and $10 worth of Bull S***.
