Default Indoor Pool coming

According to the online tabloid.......

In a surprise announcement, District Manager Janet Tutt told the audience that she had been notified by The Villages that they are intending to build an indoor pool. Many Villagers who have fought skin cancer and other ailments have called for an indoor pool, but the AAC has been stonewalled by residents who don’t want “their pool” converted to a shaded or covered pool.

“We do not have additional details at this time,” Tutt said. “In light of this discussion, they wanted to make sure we were aware of it.”

I hope this is a fee facility much like the fitness centers or the wood working shop. To me there are a lot more cost opereating an indoor pool vs. an outdoor pool.

That was the reason given before.

Is this to be an indoor pool or a covered pool?

Works for me. I'd be happy to pay, but one pool for the entire Villages? There are a LOT of folks who want to avoid the sun.

I can't believe that, being in Florida, TV doesn't have solar water heaters on its changing room roofs, for heating the pool and augmenting the shower heater. Putting these in when new pools are built would cost very little; even retrofitting them to existing pools would make economic sense.

Doing so for an indoor pool could actually make it cheaper to operate than the outdoor pools where, in winter, much of the heat in the water escapes overnight.

I read there was a higher risk of lung issues with indoor pools, and was greater risk for older people.

Awesome. SEVEN replies so far and NOT ONE that says, "Great, this is what we have been wanting."

Holy ****, where's the Tylenol?

It will probably be a No Smoking Area. So I wouldn't worry.

I'm not a big swimmer, however, I believe an indoor pool would be a great addition to The Villages. Many other retirement communities have them.

I'd love it. I hope it's centrally located--near my house.

I am glad to hear about this happening. There are many who have sincerely wanted an indoor pool, especially the serious swimmers who swim during the cold months. I am sure it will be done well, as most things are around here.

I do understand Jayhawk why you need some Tylenol. Sometimes my head hurts with so much negativity.

Here are some pictures of truly luxurious indoor pools, for you to look at;
