Please don't take my original post as negative. If there are sufficient users to support an indoor pool that is great. It is just something that does not appeal to me. I just think this should be a user fee based facility. Even if the fees just cover the variable operating cost.

I'm so happy! I love to swim, even when it's too cold outside! The developers are so kind to provide excellent facilities for us!

When I moved to The Villages in 2014, I was very disappointed to find out that we did not have any covered or indoor pools. I have skin cancer and cannot be in the sun - I pray this happens!!!

for everybody that hopes it'll be near their house . . . . "how close are you to the Rio Grande area they are talking about?"
and I can see a use for a indoor pool but it should be fee based and just a pool - not to include a deck with chairs to read kindles and books. That can be done indoors at home!

What a beautiful thing. Just saying the other day that someone tried to sway us to another development because they have an indoor pool. Well, well our friend who went to the other place was already ready to come to TV, this should do the trick. The other community is boring. Sound's like our grandchildren. I'm grateful for an indoor pool.

I can already hear the clamor of discontent when people hear it's potentially planned for a north/eastern location! I wonder if The Villages has a budget for 20 indoor pools?

Indoor pool is a much needed addition to TV and I would be happy to pay a fee to use it for combo and lap swimming.

While an indoor pool isn't something I personally would use, I can certainly see why some might prefer one (skin cancer survivors for example).
Good for The Developer for admitting (even obtusely) everything is not 'perfect' and is willing to admit a mistake in not providing one before now. ![]() |

Before buying a house in TV, my wife and I toured several other communities in Florida. A number of them had "sails" over parts of the seating areas around the pools, which they said were to help folks avoid overexposure from the sun. It seemed like a good idea (I've got a family history of skin cancer) and we were surprised not to see it implemented at any of the pools we saw in TV. We also wondered why there were no indoor pools, though given the population size of TV, I have no idea how many indoor or seasonally covered pools would be enough to satisfy the need. Well, it's good to see that this is at least being tried. Maybe it'll be the start of a big trend. Or not. We'll see.

Maybe the Developer will install some more shade at MY neighborhood pool or heck maybe they will just put a shaded pool in MY back yard to make me happy ! LOL

I have a friend who lives backing up to the field behind the Rio Grande pool and that is where the indoor pool is planned along with a new golf course.

Swimming is great exercise. As one who has skin cancer issues, I swim a bit and then head for the shade. Actually, I welcome a cloudy day so I have the opportunity to swim a bit more. ( if I'm not playing golf). We adapt, adjust and deviate to do those things we want to do. As stated before I'm not a big swimmer, so though I welcome an indoor pool, I will not likely use it that much---especially if I have to pay for it! Maybe the "scotch" heritage!
